Default Getting Started

Ok this game really wants you to hate it. It seems to do everything possible to make you just walk away from it in disgust.

First time I manage to dock (which in itself is a chore) I try to put some systems in my tiny little tug. I have 2 blue empty slots yet everything I try to put in them refuses me. The slots are both blue. I have items I've managed to pick up here and there and a few of them are "system" items which are blue. Yet I cannot equip anything.

Fine. Forget it. I'll move along with the story and see what happens.

Putting aside issues I have with the controls and especially docking (Grr) here's where I stand in the grand story.

I've made my way to Falcon station (I think that's the name) and meet up with "Ray". Ray has a simple go here and come back mission. I am to do it in his ship too. Hmm his ship is much more spiffy than mine.

I save.

I proceed to the given destination. Just as I get going, some guy wants me to make a delivery for him. Ok fine. Good cash, not too far. I agree.

On the way I get an offer for escorts. ok fine let's bring them. When I get to the location, MISSION FAILED. Something about double-cross/betrayed...whatever.

Ok maybe bringing the escorts was bad. Reload. Do same thing except no escorts. As soon as I get to the designated location....MISSION FAILED. Then some pirates open up on me and blow me up.

Um ok...apparently that mission can't be done or something. Forget it.

Reload. Proceed with Ray's misison and ignore everything else. I go to his designated locatoin, exchange words, and go back as instructed. Soon as I get back, the Falcon station is blown up by about 8 ships who basically tell me to stop. (I've already learned that when the local law say stop, you stop)

So I stop, I wait a couple seconds, then suddenly all the ships go red and blow me up.

Seriously WTF. Everything I do just gets me a big failure and blown up.

Mothership system slots are dark blue, fighter system slots are light blue, despite the similar coloring they are NOT interchangable. You cannot equip fighter components into a mothership and vice versa.

The guy who offers you the 'easy money' is just a pirate in disguise trying to get suckers to fall for his trick. Failing the mission is intentional here.

The main character gives you the cue that you should run. Think about it for a moment, MSF fighters just whacked a civilian station. Why shouldnt they whack you too?

When they tell you to stop, fall back till you have no sensorsignals anymore, set gamespeed to x2, go away from your computer and grab some coffee, return to your computer and sneak back to the station. If you are lucky, only 2 ships will be left there. Destroy them and grab some nice gear

This will reduce the "haterating" you have for the game atm

(I did the same you do at this point, but I decided I want some kind of revenge ^^)

buhahaha ... It's one of the reasons I like this game. This is not like installing windows clicking next, next, next... . If you don't read dialogues carefully you will always have WTF syndrome .
