If your so good playing with the beginners maybe you should up the ante and play with the big boys on sim. Then come back and post how good you are

I see this becomes another oportunity to talk down arcade mode. Op makes an idiot out of himself and the forum siezes an opportunity to say how rubbish arcade mode is and how it's for beginers.
I may be following shadowcorp out of this forum soon |

Simply because on sim you can all fly at the same speed, pull the same turns and have everythign pretty much on a level playing field. Sim gives him something extra to think about, such as stalls, spins, top speed, rate of climb, NO ICONS showing where everyone is, no other views except for cockpit. All im saying is let him try that with a few of us and see if he's still calling himself amazing. Take a chill pill. Chillax ![]() |

I play all three modes..
Arcade is fun. It is not just point and shoot (although most on there think it is) all the best dogfights are in Arcade mode.. (I'd prefer it if all of you "never play Arcade" types didn't start flaming me because if you haven't played arcade you can't comment!). I also love the depth of Sim mode, but, most dogfights and team battles end about 10 feet off the ground. Now correct me if I'm wrong, in every account of WWII air combat that I've read (a lot) they all repeat the same mantra.. Altitude, Altitude, Altitude... If sim mode is sooo realistic why is everyone flying sooo bloody low? I'll tell you why.. because it's not realistic. There are loads of technical posts on here about turn radius and rate of climb and so on but it's all made totally irrelevant because everyone's hiding down near the ground. None of these planes were designed to fight at such a low level. Like I said, I love the feel of sim mode and like playing it. That said I'm looking forward to the tourney because I believe that it will actually be fought in the sky. |

The fact is I enjoy all game modes but play arcade mode because I enjoy it most. My freind list play arcade and we have a great blast .
The point here is, as has been stated by others in other threads, sim players on here always run down arcade mode. I could grab quotes from this thread about noobs and all that but cant be bothered. I don't pile into sim threads saying stuff like "drop your anoraks and trainspotting books and join me for some fun in arcade mode" I respect that people enjoy sim and don't see any need to suggest another mode has more depth and their mode is populated with shallow score chasers. It just seems any arcade thread takes about 6 posts max before someone posts a comment about how the planes turn on a sixpence or how arcade dogfights are mindless turn battles. |

Please let's not turn this into a sim vs arcade debate. It's only an issue because that's the mode the OP said he played. I believe everyone's point was that if he thinks he has his game mastered (arcade) then he needs to try a different sport (realistic or sim). The modes are different, not better, just different. I doubt any of us are defending our homeland from a cockpit Monday morning, so it's all good.
![]() To the OP, nobody likes a braggar dood (but I'm sure you have figured it out by now). |

I was pointing out to all the "come play with the real pilots" posts that in fact the real pilots are all mostly flying so low to the ground that they may as well be driving, not piloting. To call Arcade unrealistic is a little rich. I have questions about IL-2 1946/WoP. Does the same thing happen there online and do they have a target 'padlock?' view in sim mode? The only other Sim games I've really played were the MS Combat Flight Sims 1,2 & 3 and they had that option. (I loved CFS2.. the pacific one). I'm curious as this is the first IL game I've played and was wondering if target view in sim was frowned upon by the hardcore simmers? |

I personally believe that the whole target padlock thing contradicts what a flight game should be all about, as part of the skill of a real life pilot & a gamer, is to be aware of his surroundings at all times & not having the game engine do it for you. I know I'm in the minority here & that's just one reason why I prefer single play over multiplay. This is why I place so much emphasism on the motion tracking system. Everyone plays differently.
