Default What counts as a 'bomber' in strike?

Since I have already unlocked the B17, (by flying bona-fide bombers and winning 50 games), I am putting this question for the benefit of my gaming buddies who do not relish being a big target (cowards ) and can't seem to get the hang of using the defensive armament, preferring to whizz around in Stuka's..

As far as I can gather, simply having a plane that can drop a bomb or two does not count..

Whilst I'm on the subject, wtf is it with everyone choosing fighters in games of strike? - I know that it's a cheap way of racking up some (easier) kills - but surely, helping your team get a win is just as important?

One of the unlocks I know require you to use a fighter in Strike.

This is a unlock for the Yak 1B

1 machine-gun, 1 cannon, 6 x RS-82
Win 5 Online Strike games with the Yak1B

Thank you for that answer, - but, to be more specific, does a Ju87 count as a bomber for the B17 unlock?

Perhaps you could also clarify what a 'win' actually means? Eg: Does this mean getting the most stars in a round, or simply being a part of the winning team?

I always take a fighter, and it does help the team to win.
I normally coordinate what to do with ancient seraph, he normally takes the B-17 if the enemy has one. Now, easy example, if it is 2vs2. Me in a 109 G-6 and teammate in a B-17, vs a B-17 and an blenheim. As long as I keep shooting down the B-17, we will win, since the teammate B-17 will score much more then the enemy blenheim.
If I had also taken a bomber, It would have been a much closer game, bacause then it is all about hitting the targets better then the opponent.

Now I just keep the B-17 out of the sky, ensuring victory

EDIT: when 'mission completed' comes up, it is counted as a win (so being in the winning team in enough). And as far as I know, all planes that appear as a triagle on the map (bombers, Il-2, JU etc), are counted as bomber

Win means "Mission Completed" at the end of the match. 50 Strike wins gets you the B-17.
I used the Ju-87 B and once you get 25 wins you get the D variant

EDIT: It must be a bomber to unlock it.
EDIT: 20 strike wins in th D variant, to unlock the FW190 F-8?

Cheers chaps.

I simply find it frustrating how so many people are going for the unlocks without paying attention to the composition of their teams (it's not unusual to find whole teams made up of fighters) Which, whilst it makes for some easy wins, seems not to reflect the spirit of the game.

I'm also of the belief that having optional spawn points (spread along the start line) in games of strike would help discourage cheesy spawn campers. but that's another topic entirely..

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you only need 5 wins in the Ju-87 B-2 to unlock the D variant?
