Default hundreds of planes?

Anton said the game allows for "hundreds of planes" in the air. Are there really any missions with that many planes? I want to know more about how massive the battles get. If you've completed the game, please fill me in.

Most of the fights above berlin have tons of planes flying around.
Also go play the bop demo mission. tons of bombers (50 ish) plus fighter support and allied side is also flying with 20+ planes in that mission alone.

In some singleplayer missions there are many many planes in the air and the game runs great. Only if you have an explosion directly in your sight there are some stutters. But thats not really a prob.

it be great if you could add more aircraft, types and numbers, plus friendly in the training mode.
on some the single missions you really want to be able to keep going, but the mission ends when you shot down enough aircraft

look at the final level of single player...

LOTS of targets in the air and on the ground, yet the game still runs nice and smooth.

Red cliffs of dover is another, plenty of HEIII's getting intercepted by hurricanes and spitfires.
