Well, the subject pretty much captures it. What have you been adjusting your sensitivity settings to, getting the best results with the AV8R? Preferably for sim.
It's got a bit of a deadzone, but hey, what can you do. It's the stick I have, and I'll just have to suck it up. Can't imagine whining to my superior officer, "I don't wanna fly, my plane's stick has a deadzone, and I'm just gonna troll forums until someone invents something better." You'd get court marshaled for that nonsense. Ferigno99 |

That zip tie mod will help a great deal with the dead zone, as does weakening the rudder spring (well, for me anyway

ziptie the springs under your av8r together. There's a bunch of pics on the forums. Takes a TON of pressure off the stick. I have no idea how he tuned down the rudder spring though.
The reason for this thread is that I feel like when I'm trying to dial in, I'm up and down and up and down and all over the damned place. Granted, this is a new game, but I thought some of you would have suggestions on settings. And so you have. Good call, me. |

The other controls on mine worked OK for me, but elevator (could be a personal problem!
![]() Inside the stick there is another spring that provides the rotating resistance (it goes over the analog pot for the rudder). I took that out, held the gap open (makes sense when you see it) to where it would just lightly apply pressure when the stick was centered, then heated it with a torch to 'set' it to no tension there. Reinstall (after a dip in water to cool) and reassemble. My stick now takes may 1/4 the effort to rotate, makes the rudder input a lot smoother, and more importantly to me is a lot easier on my wrist. Sounds trickier then it is, took less then a half hour to do. |

I'm messing around with the AVR-02's sensitivity myself, and it's a difficult balance. I've been tying the ailerons and elevators together, but maybe that should change.
What I've found: Anything above halfway, and it feels like I can't maintain level flight or trim the plane. Anything below halfway, it's very easy (too easy) to not stall, and the plane feels docile all around. Thus far, I've been willing to compromise some control for the ability to make minute adjustments, so I recommend trying low sensitivity and then working up to something higher. Keep the settings coming, as I'll definitely try them out. |
