"..
Modern Warfare 2 Combat Controllers (Xbox 360 and PS3) A specialized controller for Modern Warfare 2, the Combat Controller will incorporate rubber grips and a soft-touch finish for prolonged frag sessions. Additionally the controller will include two buttons toward the rear of the controller, which allows players to remap action buttons or thumbstick commands on the fly, allowing users to relocate melee or sprint commands to rear buttons for added control. As an aesthetic touch, the Combat Stick will feature thumbstick backlighting and a durable braided USB cable for extra visual panache. Aside from the clear visual variations, the PS3 controller will depart from the Xbox 360 design in that it utilizes a 2.4GHz wireless system with internal rechargeable battery for up to 60 hours of gameplay. Both variations of the Modern Warfare 2 Combat Controller will retail for $49.99. .." video: in other words; you can simulate RS click with the new button thus freelook in cockpit will be more easy (I think, have not tried this of course) |

I still think it cannot replace a flight stick.

yes you could do that, but the only way i can see that working is the two rear buttons allow you to look left and right. i personally want to look all around the cockpit

I agree that a real, proper joystick is better.
The way I think this work is: underside of the controller has two buttons and a switch that enables said buttons to simulate either Stick Press or B/A button. For Birds of Prey the Stick Press/click function is most important as you will be able to press the new button and thus render the RS free to 'Look around in cockpit' (like the hat on the aviator) - release the new button to make RS work as throttle or rudder. thing is, pressing the stick down is awkward, this may solve that problem again, I have not tried this out and limited info is available on this controller yet. (sorry for some bad english) |

Most times I look at the custom controllers out for games and think, why would I want to pay that much for a slightly different look, but this one actually improves on the existing 360 controller. The underside of the controller is a natural place to put a pair of buttons, after all when you hold the controller you have 3 fingers per hand essentially doing nothing while your index finger has 2 buttons to press and your thumb has an analogue stick and either the D-pad plus BACK or 4 buttons plus START to control at the same time. This goes for both the 360 and PS3, and consequently most third party controllers too.
If I was designing a controller, I would move the Lb(L1) and Rb(R1) down here on trigger like projections, allowing the triggers and shoulder buttons to be controlled independantly, which would allow more important functions to be controlled by the shoulder buttons and thus leave the thumbs with less things that would take them off the all important analogue sticks, giving better control. This is however a very good compromise and would definitely make looking around with the cockpit view in Birds of Prey easier, if the new Action 2 button was assigned to replace the click down right analogue stick button. Some of the other stuff shown there would also be nice to have. I wouldn't mind the new mouse or the 360 headset either, if reasonably priced, because they look like they function better than what I already have and I hate the current over-the-head 360 headset and don't like the wireless version either. |

Here's another one that's fully customizable, and it's got an optical wheel also. It's not good for ppl with real big hands though. cause it's a little more compact than a reg ps3 controller. http://www.thrustmaster.com/product....&PlatformID=12
