Hey guys, in a bit of a pickle here, the problem I am having at the moment is, when I copy n paste/move buildings, well when I go back into the map I have been working on after saving via f3, well they are not there, so I have to do it all over again ughrr
![]() Can someone please tell me how I can save in the gem editor, so when I go back into the map, everything I have edited including buildings, are still there. I even gave my map a brand new title thinking that may work, but oddly enough its not even highlighted when I go to load it, its not even listed, like it has totally dissapeared. I have never really had this problem before, so I can't understand why it is happening now. Thanks Last edited by micro; 05-15-2013 at 06:20 PM. |

stuff like buildings you are editing in F2 map mode right? F3 is script and you shouldnt really place buildings through script but on map instead. You can work with simple map stuff even when you are in F3 script mode by hitting F2 and editing map but if you really wanna do full map work you need to load the map in F2 mode.
If you still have problems then post example of what you are doing. |

![]() but thanks alot for the input, it means alot ![]() like when I say I copy one building, I mean an actual building thats part of the map already, not a building I have taken from the construction category. Last edited by micro; 05-18-2013 at 04:13 PM. |

Where are you saving it? remember that original maps are within pak files, save the map as something else under map folder and open that see what happens.
What you doing is fine and I done that many times that normally works fine, but your problem I bet is the fact you not saving it properly or to proper file. Try to extract that map from pak file and name it something else even then edit it and save. Or you could create a mod and edit it under mod folder. |

When you save in F3 mode it will save any changes you made to script as far as map it may ask you if you made changes to map itself, but remember if u add something in f3 mode aka script like building and save and then load just the map file it the changes will not be there because you did that before in script.

hm, I kind of understand what you mean, sometimes I will not enter the gem for a few days (out of annoying frustration) as all I want to do is pluck say a building from 'ruins via contruction' and once placed, then I will save, but it never saves, so I will try again, then again, and blah blah blah, ughrr
![]() Oddly enough no manual came with the game ![]() Just a very simple step by step in the most simplest of lamens terms, I am sorry if I may appear like I am hindering, but I really do need help here as I am having a difficult time in wanting to do a simple save. I don't really understand how the mention of scripts ect mean, but I hope I will get there eventually lol. oh yeh, there is something else that has been bugging me, I have noticed that when a tank fires at a buildings wall, well the wall is still intact, like it doesn't even show any damage, I know that some of the buildings are doubled up, which I suppose can prevent a building from blowing up on a first tank fire, but even on half demolished buuildings, well when a heavey tank like a veteran tiger fires at a building, well the building doesn't budge, do I have to change a setting so I can see a building blow up from a first tank fire, I have even seen a veteran tiger fire at a wall at really close range, and the wall just shows dust coming off it, but the wall again stays intact, and thats just a small wall, is there a way around this, thanks. I just did a map test by editing a single map with a copy and pasted building.
I was able to save my map with the change, and open it again. Normally I only fiddle in the F3 window. In your first post you said you have been able to Save a map before but for some reason it stopped working for you ? The GEM editor always opens on the map making window. Open/Load... a map from say, the single list in the GEM editor. You know how to do that, - Yes ? Just do a quick map test, copy a building then paste it somewhere else on the map. When your map test is finished press Esc key on keyboard then choose "Save As..." and give your test map a name and save it. When the GEM editor has saved it, it will automatically reload it straight away. You can then exit GEM editor. Restart it, then put your cursor on the top right corner - MAP: <untitled> Load... then you should see your saved map in the list right there ![]() You also should be able to go to the Men of War Assault Squad game folder > resource > map - and you should see your new map folder in there. I had not been loading up maps in f2, was always in f3, editing in f2/f3/f6, but always saving in f3, so obviously f3 is for something else, I will do some research about that, and close this thread, as I would imagine you all must be banging your heads against the wall by now with me lol. I work alot of hours, so I don't really get much free time to play my favourite game, but when I do have the time, especially on my days off, I will do alot of reading, and searching the net for advice ect, but would rather come in here for advice, as this forum has saved me alot before today, and I always prefere practical feedback from a real live person in conversation, as that way advice/tips can be much quicker, and alot of faffing around can be saved. I am still in the dark as to why a Veteran Tiger can fire upon a really small wall on its own much smaller than the Tiger itself, and only brick dust can be seen coming off the wall, and not the actual wall disintigrating immediately from a tank shell, in real life that would never happen, but of course the game can be set to the same principle, dynamite always works a treat though lol. But yeh I have done a screenshot of your tip above, and now its constantly onm my second monitor, maybe you could consider making it a sticky as I know that would be very much appreciated by the brand new gamers, it certainly worked immediately for me. to djsatane n yourself, thank you so much for your patience and your advice ![]() Last edited by micro; 05-23-2013 at 10:27 PM. |

oh yeh I will check out the links you put in, nice 1 for that, I did check out alot of 123stealthbomber's tutorials, but I could never find one for simple saving in the editor, I most likely missed it, as there are alot of tutorials there, so trying to find one can be abit exhausting, resulting in getting bored, but I watched a great one about using the fx's, smoke/fire ect, and making sure the store was ticked, as I was having major problems as to why no matter what fx I would use, it would never save, it was the store in the right column, that had to be ticked.
thanks again for your time and patience. Last edited by micro; 05-23-2013 at 11:40 PM. |
