Default RED PRINT: How to get rid of?

I've looked but can't find - the search function is useless, and I've paraded about all of the FAQs I could locate. I want to know how to turn off the red print text from squad mates or the flight instructor. It's highly annoying and it's not as simple to find as it was in IL2.

Which config file is it on and where is it on the config file (if it's there at all?

A good thing to have if it's available would be an article or description of the config files.

Thanks in advance.

1. Alt-left mouse click the window to select the window.
2. Then select right click the window to open up the window setup options.
3. Close or hide the window.

Thank you salmo. Jeez. I'm feeling a bit thick now. I read that so many times on the forum, but never occured to me that when others asked about the boxes, I thought they meant just the chat box that I remember from the old IL2. I didn't realize ALL the chat boxes - whether HUD, or chat boxes - acted the same. Nor did I even think the red print display WAS a chat box. I was used to it being an overlay. Hense my obtuseness thinking it was within the CONFIG file.

STOOOPID! LOL Thanks again.

Hi Robert,

Here's a great starting point for your chat window configuration. Simply copy and paste this code in your .ini and then you can customize from there: (make sure to make a back-up 1st)

Quote:
[ChatWindow]
0:-1=-posSize '0.003 0.870 0.206 0.130' -titleStr "Motor Controls" -alpha 130 -ualpha 0 -wrap -history 100
0:262144=-lay 1 -fnt 0 -clr 0
1:-1=-posSize '0.673 0.000 0.326 0.098' -titleStr Voice -alpha 130 -ualpha 0 -wrap -history 40 -timeout 20
1:2=-font 3
2:-1=-posSize '0.003 0.723 0.181 0.145' -titleStr "Secondary Controls" -alpha 130 -ualpha 0 -history 10 -timeout 20
2:6=-font 3
2:5=-font 3
2:4=-font 3
2:7=-font 3
3:-1=-posSize '0.002 0.003 0.531 0.118' -titleStr "Info. Window 1" -border -alpha 130 -ualpha 0 -includeTime -history 100 -timeout 20
3:393216=-fnt 0 -clr 54 -al 2 -tf 1 -sz 1 -sl 1
3:3=-font 3
3:131072=0
3:1=-font 3
4:-1=-posSize '0.171 0.323 0.687 0.352' -titleStr NetStats -title -border -alpha 50 -ualpha 0 -custom
4:-2=-font 3 -color 139 -columnWidth '0.108 0.199 0.349 0.156 0.101 0.087' -columnSort 2
This is the cleanest looking setup I've seen yet. Messages disappear after a certain amount of time and the whole screen stays clean while you are flying (minus your control indicators). Give it a gander.
