Default XBOX 360 "Missions" based in 1940

Im not sure if this would work, nor do i think i could organise it (due to family, work etc) though i could participate.

The general idea being...

start a game, TDM based in Southern England and the year being 1940, thus limiting the planes and also giving you the Battle of Britain theme.

Team A being the RAF
Team B being the Luftwaffe

The idea being that team A have less players than team B.

Once the game starts, team B flies over the coast and groups up somewhere near france. Limited ammo etc needs to be enabled. Meanwhile, the smaller RAF based team A doesnt land, but patrols the skies of southern England as they would of done during the summer of 1940.

Prior to the game starting each team decides which aircraft to use, the RAF must all use the same aircraft for the patrol, either the Spit or the Hurricane, simply due to the limited numbers the game would prob get.

Team B will either all take a 110, or a mix of HE III's and 109's.

If its the 110's then the mission would be a quick hit and run on a target that team B would mutually agree on between them, get in, hit target with bombs, get out before spotted and intercepted by the RAF team.

If they choose the HE III's and 109 escort then again its a case of mutually agreeing on a target and bombing it from a mutually agreed height (to be made more authentic for a typical HE III bombing run), while the 109's must provide CLOSE escort, meaning they just cant go off like lone wolves and look for trouble. Again this must be done while knowing the RAF are out on patrol looking for you.

Once bombs have been dropped etc then turn round stick together and head back to the french coast, once the coast is reached then the mission is over. Unless all Luftwaffe planes are destroyed prior to this and then its an out right RAF victory.

If during the mission any plane is "shot down" then they must fly to the South western part of the map and just free flight until the game is over, thus not interfeering with the main game. Realistically by the time you arrive their the game shouldnt have to long left to play.

IF.. and Luftwaffe planes take sufficiant damage, but can land somehwere in England (but be unable to make it home) then a friendly can land next to him and "pick him up" but you must be stationary for a minimum of 30 seconds. This could be fatal though as the RAF are still out their and can destroy you both while your on the ground.

Pretty basic stuff really that could naturally be build upon and added to by you guys.

Once the "mission" is over, you then come back to a specific thread in this forum and post your "after action report" detailing anything and everything you want about the mission, as much or as little as you like.

Who knows, it could be an eventful mission with guns blazing, or it could be a milk run and the RAF wouldnt even spot you. Its the way the game goes, Nobody can predict what would happen.

The "after action reports" just add a bit of depth to the game mode and give us all something to read on here and get you in the IL2 mood. Again this is all to be added upon etc by you guys.

The whole thing is just an idea. It may work, it may not.

Thoughts?

Could be made as a FFA, to get rid of the horrible blue/red banners on each teams plane, but in doing so you face having your own gunners shooting at team mates.

Unless you add a "fighter sweep" to the list.

Hurricane is Bucket? Which one,Big or Little? I never knew that haha. Have to give the guy Kudos, he's got a great name for the forums.... he has taste.

We should get a party going sometime and discuss how we would do it and how it would work, because if done properlyit will make IL2 so much more interesting (not that it already isnt).

Let me know mate

Just on IL2 now having a bit of a play.

Could also perhaps do Spitfire/Hurricane (Team A) and JU-87 (Team B).

Naturally the fuel on this game does seem a little OTT, as in you could probably fly much further than you realistically could, so if your flying a JU-87 then targets should be either shipping or targets closer to the shore such as Manston/Hawkinge/Radar masts at Doveror the Docks....

The potential for a great game is their. Its just trying to get it to work which is why everyone involved would have to put their heads together and think it through etc.

Ah right ok, makes sense now haha.

So its Big Bucket. I've not played BC2 with little bucket in quite a while... sure i played battlestations pacific with him to. I think a game needs to be set up shortly!! Always threw me of guard how you used to have the odd life each haha.

I think pope should organise it then? How does that sound? im sure we can twist his arm. The only reason i suggested something for us 360 guys was because the PS3 community pre patch seems much larger than ours, or at least on this forum anyway. I just think we should should have some fun on the 360, get some friendly "scenarios" played involving various game types.

Depends if any 360 players want a bit of fun out of it or just prefer to have TDM or dog fights.

Even if just 3 can get online we could try something out on a smaller level? One can take a Spit/Hurri and patrol, and the other two can form up over the coast as 110's/JU-87/HE-III and see how the game progresses from their?

Just an idea really.

Anyway you think it could be added to or changed to make it more enjoyable?
