Default Corrected English briefings for all campaign and training missions

Hi all,
Although the English campaign briefings have obviously been written by someone who speaks excellent English, there are a few minor mistakes in the grammar and punctuation, along with occasional phrases which don't sound quite right to a native English speaker. I noticed that the Gamespot review drew attention to these errors and thought it would be worthwhile correcting them so future reviewers can concentrate on enjoying the sim rather than getting hung up on spelling mistakes.

I've therefore edited all the English briefings for both the British and German campaigns (and the training missions) and uploaded them here. To install, simply download the zip file to your desktop and unzip it. Inside you should see a folder called "parts". Copy this to your C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover folder and answer "Yes" to the popup questions about merging the folders. Then select the "Copy and Replace" option to overwrite all the files.

(Should you ever want to revert to the original versions, you can do so by right-clicking the game in Steam, selecting "Properties", clicking the "Local Files" tab and then clicking "Verify integrity of games cache").
Cheers,
DD

P.S. If anyone spots any errors I've missed, let me know and I'll amend the download accordingly.

Thanks Mate,

Haven't got the game yet, but when I get it I will install your fix.

Good stuff DD, one question though... in the first training briefing, the spelling of the word maneuvres, whilst not incorrect, is the US spelling (maneuvres), should we be using the UK spelling (manoeuvres) for this game?

Cheers

Goanna

I think UK/US differences can be forgiven. The real issue if there really is one would be with any grammatical errors.

If you wanted to be really picky you could say that the game's not released in the US yet, so the spelling should be UK English

Thanks very much! This was bugging me. I was considering doing it myself once I complete both stock campaigns; you beat me to it.

If it matters at all, I think the British campaign should definitely use British spelling... and I'm one of those bloody Yanks over here across the pond.

TBH I didn't worry too much about US/UK differences. The original briefings tended to use US spellings and I generally left them as they were (realize rather than realise etc), although iirc I did change a couple I found particularly jarring (e.g. honor to honour). I guess you're right, though, and I should probably be more consistent with these.
Cheers,
DD
