OK I can see why they did it - without the map you'd be flying about trying to find a needle in a haystack, but in a strange way it makes Sim more unrealistic than Realistic! I seem to spend half the game looking at the damn map trying to see who's friend or foe instead of looking through the cockpit glass.
Seem to have trouble seeing the coloured bands on the wings at certain positions to the sun too. By the way, it was a immense pleasure being on Chankychank's team last night. The man dominated. I thought I'd just go off and land and have a cup of tea at one point! But I soldiered on and finished with a score of err... I'd rather not publish that. ![]() XBL: cyclone70 |

I've been thinking about it a while. The main problem is it'll be impossible to find anyone when you just spawned, or at any time you don't see anyone for that matter. I did read somewhere that in Air Warrior you'd disappear from the radar below a certain altitude, this could be nice. Or make fuzzy gray blips, so it won't be as easy to identify everyone.

But in Airwarrior, you also had a visual aide in the cockpit that told you the type of plane and what team and how far it was at a certain distance. http://www.gamegoldies.org/air-warri...ght-simulator/ I think one of the MAIN issues with this game is the fact that there really aren't any set bases. Allies and Axis don't have a set base. And they don't need one because they don't take off and land - they spawn in the air. In Airwarrior, you'd have set bases - and you'd take off from them, and if there was an unmarked plane in your airspace - it most likely was enemy. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by SL83; 10-08-2009 at 09:33 PM. |

I'd like to see the fuzzing, or better yet fairly large grid coordinates laid down on the map and then just light up the square. That way you don't really know which way they're travelling other than another grid square lighting up, but even then you don't really know since it should be a fairly large area. That way you still have to use your eyes. I'd also like to see host options to set the room to realistic with minimal or no HUD. Minimal HUD gives you just a directional arrow but you still get the target padlock. No highlight bar or brackets on the targets though, so again you still have to use your eyes. No reticule for the bomber guns, which kind of seems appropriate too. I like running the trainer and missions w/ Realistic and min HUD now, it's the right balance. To do that in MP now would just be too much of a disadvantage though, since you can't set the entire room that way. |

The grid on the map would have an icon or number or something that told you that there were enemies in the grid - but they wouldn't tell you where. |

I really don't like the idea of a mapless sim. Yes, it's unrealistic, but until you can see planes as well as real life it would render the game to tedious to play IMO.
I really like AncientSeraph's idea of fuzzing the blips, maybe based on the target's altitude, or your distance to the target...? |
