Unhappy Anton, there are some SERIOUS multiplayer issues...

I finally was able to join a multiplayer match today, I have been trying since Thursday

This game is amazing, but it has some serious multiplayer issues

1.) sometimes I spontaneously explode whenever I spawn
2.) Planes disappear and reappear while I am targeting them
3.) I keep hearing the little "hit" sound, as I spray a target with bullets, yet they don't die (one guy was spewing smoke as I got three "hit" sounds in a row, still didn't die!)
4.) People crash into the ground after being shot, and I don't get credit for the kill
5.)I found all this out today because I was finally was able to join a multiplayer match... I have been trying since Thursday!

Please please please hear our collective cries for an outstanding online experience. I want this game to succeed so bad!

This is coming from a guy who has been waiting for this game about two years, told everyone he knows about it, bought an ACE EDGE just to be able to truly get the full experience and I can tell you I am pretty put off by these major issues.

If I am dissuaded from online matches, imagine the average joe gamer renting this game to give it a try

anyone else having these issues or is it just me?

Its a great game but the online play is not very good. All of the above issues when i manage to finds a game. One thing that does hack me off is the having to re-invite your friends every time or is there a way to avoid this?

I am very close to taking it in to Blockbuster and seeing what credit i can get towards Modern Warfare 2

cant say i had 1 or 2...3 i have plenty...but sounds that you the same as me and are just a rotten shot, sorry. a plane dosnt crash just cos it gets a few hits...you need to hit the right place with all the bits of lead going in the same concentrated area, spraying is no good...then you might kill him.
the rest, yep thems are issues

Planes disappearing and reappearing is called lag, welcome to console gaming.

The game wasn't released on Thursday. Why do people always assume MP servers should be up before the game is even supposed to be released?

people have been playing on MP since Thursday. I am aware of lag in console gaming, but I have never seen it this bad, maybe it is due to the nature of the game...

In roughly 100 games, I have seen plenty of people crashing at the beginning of the match because it spawns them all close together, but I have never encountered lag. All of the people I have been playing with have said the same thing, crashing yes, lag no. The major issue is the no-penalty crash system. People are exploiting that to no end.

Funny how none of my other PS3 games have noticable lag online

Lag in consoles games depends greatly on the connection you have with the person that is hosting the game and with the other players.

Unless you play IL2 and other games with exactly the same people, its not a completely conclusive observation.

I notice quite a few posts in reference to the Arcade damage model. Let me clarify my concern.

If BoP were to be released with no real competition, then this would not be an issue. That is not the case. HOE will soon hit the market with a rush of aggressive advertising, flashy colors, and impossible physics.

And the casual gaming community will eat it up.

Why? It's fun. Arcade mode should be fun. Arcade mode is NOT fun in BoP. If I can whiz about the skies at 900km, take a turn at dead throttle and not stall, have unlimited ammo, fuel AND defeat a freakin’ spitfire with an I-153, why does it take an obscene amount of damage to get a kill? I can’t count how many times I was in a dogfight for the duration of the game session, getting hit after hit (for crying out loud he’s been blowing black smoke for the last five strafes!) yet NO KILL. NOW I head over to SP and I’m almost a KM away killing a BOMBER with one good strafe. WTF? !? HOE will be able to offer immediate gratification, no matter how unrealistic it may be. If it is fun that is what people will continue to play I’m afraid, leaving the BoP MP community in dwindling numbers. I understand Realistic and Simulation mode needing to up the ante as far as the damage model goes, but that is for a different demographic. Think of how many gamers would actually be playing CoD if the only difficulty was Veteran or Hardcore? I am really concerned about the longevity of this game in the online world.
