I really don't get all this whinging and complaining about the game. Before it was released everyone was demanding to know when it would be out and begging to be allowed to be beta testers. Now it's out everyone is complaining it's not ready and how they object to being beta testers! By paying a relatively small amount for the privilege you have no doubt kept the project afloat and brought the time and resources for the first stage to be completed. It is not like you will be charged again for the finished game as updates arrive free and automatically. It was pretty obvious from the suddenly rushed and botched release that the game probably wasn't ready and all the preview videos and screen shots showed that game play wasn't smooth and fps were dire. Also the landscape and it's colour and the water etc were hardly closely guarded secrets. Plus there were enough doubts and misgivings aired on this forum before release.

I know there is still a lot to be desired but already the improvements have made the game vastly better. My system is only mid range and yet CloD runs perfectly smoothly and with fps mostly in the 40s and 50s and above. In fact CloD runs with the same or even slightly better fps than UP3 on my system. I am not sure about online sound issues as I have only been on line a few times but I didn't notice anything amiss. I have all my settings at absolute highest with everything turned on except for mirrors which are useless and cost a good 5 fps or so. I get no graphical issues and even the landscape colours are better.

I do not know why I am not getting the problems others seem to have. My system specs are below. I run the game on its own SATA drive with its own O/S. I use Game Booster. I use the Config files I am given without messing around with them and that is it.

Even with so much more to be done on the game, hopefully before US release, the game is still just so much better than the old IL2 series in one overiding aspect which is the impression it gives of 'really being there' which surely is what a sim is all about.

I would guess, because you know how to setup a PC properly.

I have buyed it, because i have all old releases from day 1 of the original sturmovik. It's now part of the collection.

I tired it just with the latest update, and looking at the state it is, i really don't want to know how it was at the release :/

Sure nothing is perfect at a release, the old IL2 wasn't either, but it stayed playable and enjoyable for me all the time at my current rig at those days. With all patches it grew bigger and bigger, new planes, maps ect.

I really looking forward to CloD that it will get fixed, till tis point it will be just a sort of a tech demo. I don't want to complain, others did it also, but i just smiled as i heard the outside sound of the 109... The propellor is just animated from the sides, from other angles it's looking very odd to me. When i fire the machine guns, form the outside the effects are messed up, the muzzle flash appears just at particular angles or are completley missing. I'm not epilleptic i switched the option (my goodness...) off.

I enjoyed the clickeable cockpit very much, and the landside looked beautyful.
Patience is a key-word there, the potential is there also. Let's see, and hope that we'll smile about the complaining post one day, because the sim will be evolved to a product like Sturmo 46 was, and IS.
Go on Luthier and Team, do what you're have to, and thanks to Oleg for his magnificient work that i could fly the il2 seriesfrom day 1!

It's really simple, people 'whinge' as you put it, becasue they shelled out money on a borderline unplayable piece of software - which ultimately is detrimental to the genre as a whole - your POV is something like 0.01% of the general public's POV - most will buy, try it, find it's not all it's cracked up to be and ditch it and move swiftly onto something else - it really is that simple.

What's not 'to get'?

Personally, I bought it, tried it, and moved onto better things - I suspect that's what most do.

It works perfectly fine now apart from over large cities and minor graphical glitches.

And what are they going to move onto buddy? The only game that comes close to clod is rise of flight.

You're probably right about 0.01% of the general public being willing to take it on, many of whom aren't even interested in flight sims. There's probably a reasonable if small % of those that are flight simmers willing to stick with it and perhaps 50% of the dedicated IL-2/Maddox camp that are if these forums are anything to go by (although I stand to be corrected looking at the number of players in Steam servers).

The various "will I"/"won't I" camps are all valid. You just take your pick.

1. "I like flight sims, here's a new one (CoD), I'll try it, it's crap out of the box, still weak in significant areas after the Steam patches, ditch it." (and perhaps never know what it might become except by word of mouth).

2. "Its what we've been waiting for, it's not right yet by a long way and I'll put it aside and watch the forums until its better.

3. "Its what we've been waiting for, it's not right yet by a long way but we've seen something like this before (if not as bad) and I'll crack on with it until it's fixed." (and play for many frustrating weeks as the patches leak out).

Fortunately there are enough of type 3 to keep feedback alive until better days. Those that have ditched it or set it aside are perfectly entitled to their choice but they will have the type 3's to thank for helping get it right sooner because it would take MG many months more on their own (we can only put its out-of-the-box condition down to lack of testing resources - which many players have now joined)

As for whinge/no-whinge, where would CoD be if these forums were deathly silent?

No-one is saying it's up to snuff yet. It 'runs' for many people who can dogfight and bomb in it and its great when you do but too many people can't run it (my old min spec XP PC won't even start it) and many features are still off the mark or are simply not working yet.

Well said Klem, now if we can only figure out how to get 1 & 2 from posting crap the rest of us can get on with reporting bugs and enjoying the game as is.
