You do like to encouter Bombers, I believe. Radio commands are useful, if not essential, in online play, too - at least for the communication with ground crew. It may be that you didn't understand my comments in the other thread... Of course, I believe that those other problems are breaking the game. But I strongly believe that at least some of them are easily resolvable. |

I'll go ahead and agree with the starting post. I've been able to see past the various niggling issues for a while and that's why many of the things that people mention i had already seen from the start. Now that more people can actually focus on the details instead of various visual aspects that annoyed them, i think the community in general will be able to to notice and appreciate the details even more.
I was also flying on ATAG the last couple of days, making consecutive bomb runs in a Ju88. At one point we were flying the evening mission. Sure, it's hard to spot contacts or even navigate if you are not very familiar with the part of the map you are flying over, and the graphics bug that renders water wrong when looking through the bombsight makes it even harder some times (btw, not all people get that bug, i am one of those that do) but boy, what a sight. Flying low over the channel in a NW heading, with the setting sun almost in your face blinding you, seeing the shadows play in the cockpit, the engines comfortably humming along as you monitor your finally high resolution gauges with ease...it was one of the times i actually stop testing things and instead get myself into the "zone", being totally immersed in it all. By the way, i also spotted another very cool detail. If you stay in a cloud long enough, even if your aircraft is not susceptible to carb icing (either because you have carb heat, or because you have fuel injected engines) it is still possible to get nasty surprises. I flew threw a cloud, turned on my pitot heater and thought i'd just keep climbing. Well, as the canopy kept fogging up i saw my climb rate reducing and before i knew it i had lost a good 200 meters of altitude. I also mentioned this to another player i was following in my next run and he flew straight through a cloud as we were climbing out to the target. I knew what would happen but still, i couldn't help but think "this is so awesome"... After seeing his 88 getting lost in the cloud as we were climbing, visibility worsened and i suddenly saw a silhouette of an 88 , nose down but slower than me, appearing a few dozen meters before my nose. It was just like that scene from the Memphis Belle movie where they almost collide with another B-17 in the clouds during the climb out. The reason for this little adventure? Just wanted to post exactly the same; "Wings freeze over", before I read the last sentence. In order to look smart, you know?
![]() CoD: Always good for a pleasant surprise (if the bugs, and glitches, and leaks, and NYI things, and... continue to get sorted out!) ![]() |
