Oh, well it's been that way forever then. I'm noticing a dramatic difference in my ability to spot dots at long range between today and as early as last week. So it's either the patch or a placebo.

But it might not be the same for guys not playing on a server with those settings. It's not like everything worked perfectly before this patch, and we could rule out something inadvertently "fixed".

In SP and on KG13's server, I didn't notice any more clarity trying to spot aircraft, but honestly, I wasn't looking for it either.

Well the only server I usually fly on is ATAG, so if the only variable that's changed between last week and this is the patch, I'm going to attribute my newfound ease in spotting contacts against the ground to the patch.

I could see little black dots scooting over Hawkinge from 5500m last night, without needing to zoom in.
i think i can confirm that, not only in multiplayer, but also in singleplayer missions, the planes seem to be more visible against landscape now in medium distances, where actual combat takes place.they seem to be rendered "cleaner" now.

the only downside, this lod problem, where planes completely disappear in a certain distance is still there.

Captain, if you ever flew IL2 Sturmovik for longer than a year then you must know that this change is easily one of THE most important changes ever.

Especially the dot visibility has been a problem through the whole life of IL2. We had it one time close to optimal, but it has been changed again for no apparent reason. Nowe we have the change for this change to stay. It makes flying a B&Z plane a friggin REVOLUTION so to speak.

If the dot vis thing has really changed then pardon my exalted font but WE MUST DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO CLINCH THIS CHANGE INTO THE FINAL VERSION.

As a 109 chap i have to agree, nothing more frustrating when B&Zing is losing your target when in the roll over, this is a game changer for blue.
HAS TO STAY!!
