Well, since Ubi didn't spend anything on CloD I bet they didn't lost anything either.

I don't think this will come as any big surprise, the company UBISOFT just have themselves to blame,if the way they handled the COD release is anything to go by.
COD was the first time I preordered a game from them, and to be very blunt, the customer service was in a wordXXXXX.After preordering games from GAME in the UK,I had been spoiled with confirmations, updates and most importantly a despatch message. During the despatch of COD we all were witness to the shabby way they dispatched the game, some of the threads on this forum during this time were just unbelieveable. I realised that although I personally was not impressed with the service, which I got from them, that I had luckily, got away lightly,to some of the poor sods who had purchased the preordered game, and their woes which they displayed on here. UBISOFT also took the money upfront prior to the goods being despatched which I thought stunk, the first time any company had done this to me,anyway. I would never, ever preorder from this so called company again, and I can only think that now all their problems involved in business are coming home roost!

It matters not one jot what UBI do to promote the product, if they own the rights to a title as happened with SH V, the developers do not have a leg to stand on. With SH V, the developers did not want to publish, and when forced to do so by UBI, wanted to continue support for the product to bring it up to a level they could be happy with, and publicly complained about UBI's refusal to continue support. Due to their contract with UBI, a single patch was released before it was dropped and the franchise left in tatters despite the developers desire to continue support and development. A few developers swallowed up and now owned by UBI; Blue Byte software, Red storm entertainment, Mindscape, Strategic simulations INC, Massive Entertainment, Sinister Games, Wolf pack studios, Reflections Interactive, and Microids. Recognise any of those names? You should do if you have been gaming for any length of time, most but not all were published by UBI before UBI took over after first acquiring rights to their titles. Some they purchased before closing down the studio and developing their key titles in house. UBI losing money could be very BAD for COD's future, and almost certainly explains why the release came out of the blue with little warning after being in development for so long particularly given its current state. |

Umm,
Ubisoft is only the publisher. 1c has the rights. And a company like Ubisoft losing 74 million dollars is a drop in the bucket. They did much worse last year. At the very least, someone please show me some documentation before all this crazy speculation drives more people into tinfoil hat land. |

In all likely hood they didnt actually lose money but used creative accounting to make the books look bad to avoid paying corporate taxes.
