Default An eventual sequel with ...

Modern jets?

Before everyone attacks me, let me say this. IL-2 (though not exactly a 'sim' by definition) is absolutely the greatest console flight game I've ever played.

I mean, the planes aren't modeled spot on from what data says but they are modeled with a good amount of proper physics (i.e. accelerated stalls, torque, induced yaw, pitch and roll, engine failure) with the smallest hint of arcade fun, making a great and quite accessible game for a lot of us.

The simple and quite boring 'point and shoot' flying game is NOT what this game is.

I find that HAWX is like that however, with no decent flight model, no proper stalls, or induced movements from deflecting another control surface.

What I did love about HAWX is the introduction of dodging missiles, flying past Mach 2 and and the sheer modernity of it all. If the IL-2 devs could make something like this game, then I think a modern jet game would be just as much a breakthrough for those of us who love jets as well.

What do you all think?

Meh, not a fan of modern planes. The whole seeking missiles think kind of ruins it for me. Also, if it was realistic, the F-22 would dominate all. Kind of boring even though I love the F-22.

Now a game with the jets that were still gunfighters wold be cool. (F-86,F-84,MIG-15,British jet called Lightning? I think thats what it was. The Mystere "i cant spell french names"......you get my point.

The whole missile thing can get boring if not done preperly.

But adding missiles would mean having to dodge enemy missiles, and aiming properly. It's not like they'll ALWAYS hit, after all, the US navy's Top Gun program was designed so that pilots learned to truly energy fight and destroy the enemy rather than just fire missiles left right and centre.

Although, adding some of the newer Russian planes like the Su-37 Terminator would still give the F-22 some problems.

I'd love a new game with Korean war aircraft, and like you said, the BAC Lightning, but being a major modern jet fan too, I'd love to see that even more in a sim-style game like this.

I love modern flight games. Over G Fighters had great gameplay...but horrible presentation. Very much worth playing though. Missiles hardly make everything easy since sooner or later you've got to deal with them coming at you.
Hawx was pretty bad. AC6 was even more arcade, but still managed to be a lot better. A console version of Wings (Over Europe, Vietnam, Israel etc) games would be perfect, but with the environment at BOP quality. A few eras in the same game would be nice.
And plenty of A-10 missions.

Yep, the British jet is the English Electric Lightning; one of the most beautiful aircraft ever as far as I'm concerned. Over-G is pretty good for a PS2 port, I'll second that, and from what I hear about Ace Combat/HAWX neither of those can touch it.
