Hi all. I've never played the IL2 series. I am more familiar with the old school Microsoft Combat flight sim. However, I just downloaded the demo for IL2 on the PSN and I agree with many on this forum that this might be the game I have been waiting for.

I have beaten the first mission and satisfied all primary and secondary objectives on simulator with the hud turned off. I do like to play as realistically as I can.

My question with multiplayer is how the hell will we be able to spot, let alone define which side a plane is on? I have an HD tv and it wasnt hard on the Cliffs of Dover mission to spot planes, but the second mission in the Ardennes is giving me hell, which I imagine is what multiplayer will be like (mostly fighter aircraft in the air.) Finding the planes wasn't impossible, but tracking them for me was. Using the R3 button to look around is proving really difficult for me. I spot a plane but as soon as it zooms into a cloud bank or blends in with the ground, I can't find it again. I know in arcade this isn't an issue, but shouldn't there be some indicator in multiplayer sim mode to help us track planes? Before I get chewed out for not being hardcore, keep this in mind: If you were actually in a fighter, you would be able to crane your neck to look around much faster, and much more coordinated with flight controls. I am willing to bet using a joystick pressed firmly down to track your foes is a bit harder...
