Sadly, the HAT switch on the Logitech is not analogue.

I'd only recommend the Logitech over the HOTAS if you really need the convenience of a wireless joystick.

The joystick itself is good - like I said really good dead zone and smooth operation. But the throttle and HAT look rubbish compared to the HOTAS!
so how many directions can you look? is it a 4 or 8 way hat?
I'm worried that the hat on the thrustmaster will only enable you to look down at the controls, directly up, 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock.
you really need an 8 way hat at leased.

Oh I assumed the Thrustmaster was analogue.

The Logitech is 8 way, so in IL2 / PF you could look over shoulder etc. But on BOP it's only acting as a 4 way - you only look 12, 9, 3 o'clock, and at the gauges.

Hopefully this is just a limitation of the demo's control mapping. I don't really have anything else on PS3 that I could test it with... hmm unless I still have that HAWX demo. One min...

Ahh OK so it sounds like there is something wrong with the programing on the demo - perhaps in the full game also? Thanks for checking mate!

Question

I have that same logitech joystick!
The problem that i have is that the calibration is really messed up, constantly pushing the plane down and left when the stick is centered. I havent been able to fix it, and can only fly strait when i hold the stick in the bottom right corner.
How did you get it to work??

Are you playing the game in Sim mode? If IIRC Sim mode includes what you described due to engine torque. Once the plane is level and going the direction you want, switch on trim, which keeps the plane level. I don't know what button it is though.

No, i was on arcade mode when i was trying to get it to work. It's as if i was actually pushing the joystick all the way up and left.

Im doing fine with the daulshock right now, but a joystick is so much more immersive.

I just plugged it in!

Could be that you knocked it when syncing? When you turn it on, I think it accepts the stick position as centre.

I'll make a note of the button mapping tomorrow.

For what it's worth the HAT on the 360 Aviator seems to work as an analog stick so I don't think the 4 way view is a limitation of the demo.

Hi,

I have a similar but wired Logitech joystick myself (Logitech Extreme 3D Pro) that connects to my PS3 without problem as a controller.

I can't seem to find a working configuration though to change the throttle in the IL-2 demo (tried all the buttons in vain...).

Does anyone know if there will be an option in the full game to make a custom button configuration so I can use my current joystick, or is my only option to buy a better supported one?
