but when the plane is going straight down while burning they dont have a problem at all!

They aren't programmed to bail out unless the plane takes lethal damage. Pilot damage apparently doesn't count as lethal.

Yes but I wanted the Griffon engined XIV. Its a lot bigger performance gap than Yak 3 vs Yak 9.
