Default No idea what this is.. but it might be tasty

Has this been shown before?

This is a thread with lots of interesting stuff, supposedly from 3rd party modellers and/or the Korean project. I wish the English community was this well-informed.....

http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=44889

Anyway, here's the thread, browse through it for some really tasty stuff.

Some examples:

Most of that is very new to me! The Pe-8 is especially impressive in texture and markings!

I second that.

If it wasn't for the additional stress of learning a new alphabet, I was tempted to learn Russian.

And until Oleg recently mentioned that the RRG team had been seconded to BoB, I really thought Korea was going to be vapourware.

If I got the Babelfish-translation right, psy06 noticed the model was done wrong in IL2 and wanted to replace it, then noticed he got so many details, he'd like it to be included into BoB.
He then said, that the modelling-part is still kept secret (e.g. how many texture-files used for externals) , so he's waiting for official news.

I didn't read through the whole thread, though.

Hello!

Several designers have begun BoB-quality-level 3D models a long time ago, and some are known on the sukhoi.ru forum (probably the most important one in Russia; it suffered from a long interruption in 2008 for technical reasons; in a way this is the "SimHQ" of Russia), notably PSY06.
The latter one is known (since three years, that was no secret! no need to read russian...) for a Pe-8, a (gorgeous beauty of a) CANT 1007, an Emily, a B6N (I believe) and so on, plus some boats and ships...

Go there: http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/misc.php?...ments&t=44889; you will see many images of private projects as well as some Galba stuff from SaQSoN (beware, this is the list of the attachments of this 1200+_messages sub-forum, there are many images, not all of them boB related, of course!).

Alex Voicu who is the creator of the Il2 Tempest has also begun a while ago a gorgeous Typhoon meant to be integrated in SoW series (see SimHQ for this one)
FooBar is a rail road specialist and has many images on his site on Ubi.de and also on SimHQ.

Obviously many of these works are on hold, because you can do so much (not a lot more than the basic 3D model, unless you are privy of insider knowledge!) until you have the SoW SDK which will define the way the "special" 3D parts, LoD, internals, DM, various tricks, maybe FM, and which texture sizes, numbers and nature can be used.

Excellent post JVM. Not only does it clarify some things, but helps explain to some of the less-patient factions another aspect of the entire development process and just how complicated and convoluted it can be.

Thanks

Nice, some good looking stuff in there.

Some of those F-86 images appear to be of the Sectionf8 F-86e for FS9/X which, in addition to being freeware, is one of the best sim objects out there.
