Sure, I believe the new game will keep our taste buds satisfied for maybe a couple of years, but I think the improvements made will be quickly forgotten.
For this reason I think the game should be released now as is. Then in two years time, release a better version.

I don't think they could just release it now. They are still adding all the basic features to the basic engine and seeing if they work and then optimizing them to work at playable frame rates.

Thankfully the industry still finds it profitable to mod computer games otherwise the only game availabe would still be Pong.
