Besides, with Windows 8 on the horizen, you'll probably be able to pick up a copy of Windows 7 relatively cheaply - but then again, will Cliffs of Dover work with Windows 8 or will it cause a whole new load of problems?

Then JGSME is your firend, you can switch between different mods/patches and your original files remain untouched.
