I am sure people have right to have the complete package which includes trees and shadows.

Of course, I'm not disputing that [redacted], but there are much more higher priority things that the devs should fix first, like 109s flight models and how they seemingly snap into a flat spin upon any abrupt maneuver (I was denied 3 separate dogfights today by 109s going into the drink due to spins upon moving to engage, would have rather actually had a dogfight instead of watching them plummet to the ground.), Hurricanes not starting, launcher crashes, etc. When a players game crashes as he's lining up a kill, or a 109 pilot flails wildly into the ocean as a result of a minor elevator adjustment I'm sure the last thing going through their mind is, "Gee, I wish they'd fix these trees!"

Let's cheer for critical gameplay fixes *first*, then trees, clouds, reflections, tracers, etc.

EDIT: oh and by the way, on the contrary, no one has "rights" to the "complete package." If 1C said tomorrow, "the game now includes nothing but models and no textures...just flat colors" and uploaded a patch to the official steam version that enforced that statement, there is nothing you can do as you do not have "rights" to anything 1C creates, only a license to play what they offer. Just sayin'.

There is no point to a "historically accurate " flight sim without an intensely immersive experience. if you have to illiminate the features ( clouds, trees, grass, shadows etc.) to actually " fly " the aircraft ,this certainly does not qualify as the " next generation" flight sim. The fact that we have neither accurately represented flying environment nor smooth uninterupted game play 16 months from COD's release is the issue.

An historically accurate flight model for a particular aircraft is never a settled issue.

Historically accurate? In my opinion it is Impossible! Post official performance figures and there are 10 page arguments, Post pilot accounts - same thing. Post Post war testing same thing.

Do I need to mention the 100 octane fuel saga? You get the idea.

What ever figures are used someone will beat up an argument and be unhappy and this forum that ususally leads to pages of arguments.

Immersion? In early 1980's I was totally immersed in black ground and sky with green wireframe models, a few short years later I was totally immersed in a flat green landscape, and solid blue sky. As the years passed new features were added which blew the older sims out of immersion stakes.

At the moment with COD I could turn trees of completely because the detail of the landscape is just fantastic. NPE flying in COD is better than any other sim I've seen. Getting a bunch of people on team speak and flying up high is wonderful and totally immersing.

Will COD be Better when they fix the trees, clouds and other trivial problems? Yes of Course it will.

I for one am willing to give the developers the time they need to finish this work of Art.

Cheers!

I thought that 'pilot wings' on the super nintendo was a really good game.

I sometimes even got a bonus game involving penguins. It was really greeeeeat.

It is good you are easily amused, and are not bothered by insignificant details like clouds, weather , landscape or smooth game play.

All good things come to those who wait!

All those things you listed will either be introduced by the Developers in the current series of IL2 or if not another software house will come along eventually and give you all of it. Its just a mater of time.

And while we wait COD as it is has some highly immersive game play. Better than any other WWII Combat Flight Sim on the market. What other WWII Combat Flight sims with the scope of COD are currently in development or even being talked about? Not many!

So We can enjoy the biots we like or we can bitch an moan. Or as some people have chosen to do both!

But if you are doing both, how about talking about the good bits as well?

Didn't know the market for trees in video games was so demanding...they should have put "WE HAVE TREES!!" on the front of the box, bigger than the title text.

The damage models , cockpit/aircraft models are light years ahead of IL-2 1946
The landscape in COD certainly looks more appealing than the " green felt" used in 1946.Both of these should have been minimium requirements for any flight sim post 1946, would you not agree ?
The reason no other WW II flight sim titles are on the horizon is they are not a profitable venture. This makes it very unlikely another " software " house will pick up COD and finish it.
I quit flying IL-2 years ago along with the other folks I flew with.
