I just looked at the video. I will be damned if this landscape, Messies and Hurries is not coming from BoB....it looks most similar when you look at the vid.
This is the most interesting update in a way about SoWBob since a long time ! My theory: What we see there IS BoB. In a simplified arcade version for console. What we witness here is a deal to sell parts of BoB for console and to bring fresh money for the final developpment of BoB for PC....the REAL BoB. Very very exciting ! I ask again: 1C guys I think we deserve an explanation about this ! |

A separate company developing a version of SoW with simplified game mechanics and flight models. Guess we'll have to wait for Oleg's verdict on this.

I looked at the vid for the third time....still jaw dropped... Ok I looked at every detail. My analysis: --> Planes, landscape, houses, water (and maybe clouds) are all BoB. Also some external damage modelling you can see on the planes. --> Effects, traces etc are not BoB....I think they have been done specially for the console game... --> speed of planes and all more serious aspects that go to simulation are defenitly not BoB But there is SOME BoB stuff there for sure...the more I look at it the more I am convinced there is... I think Oleg made a smart (and maybe necessary) deal. He is bringing cashflow to the company. He is covering the console market with his work, and, secundo, it could attract some of the console gamers to buy and play the REAL thing on PC later...not dumb at all! I am convinced that Olegs real baby is the PC BoB...but why not covering the console market with something awesome you have already created ? |

I meant the developer: IL-2: Sturmovik: Birds of Prey (developed by Gaijin Entertainment for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, by DiP Interactive for Nintendo DS and by Beatshapers for PSP |

Oleg did not develop this SoWBoB game engine only for US.
he may not be from Europe, but damn the dude is smart. ehhe lol Nausicaa, i do not think we "deserve" an explanation. These 3-36 minutes speak for themselves. would asking for an explanation be JUST what the Crew do NOT want/want to avoid? yes, friends, take a look at the pictures, second for second. sloke effects evolving on your own aircraft, selfreflecting textures and shadow developments, reflection textures separate from Panel line textures (heinkel) analize it, and you will find where this one has its roots. back with a bang i would say. resurecting my hopes. |

Elements of BoB (not engine but 3d models and terrain) + reduction of realism & new control philosophy = Console Cash Cow = Influx of Console Noobs to the real sim
= Oleg's survival Oleg could probably make an RTS / commander version of the sim as well. There are plenty of ways to bring in funds using the basic Il-2 or SoW engines Last edited by Avimimus; 06-06-2008 at 07:53 PM. |

This must be BoB SOW in the console (arcade) version!
The name IL-2 Sturmovik is misleading it seems, I see only Battle of Britain action! Pictures look great! Ooh man finally some more info on BoB SOW.
