I'm very glad to hear that. Though you are probably not.

Doesn't sound that simple to me, honestly. With the same reasoning you could close down SimHQ, UBI ORR, UBI General-Forums, Russian Game Magazines, even FiringSquad.com, the RRG-Site, airwarfare.com, some photoshop-boards and the Russian Forums of this site. Oleg has posted news in a lot of medias and forums and the later for quite some time back into IL2.

Just because there is no official info on BoB makes no reason to shut down a page that is a place to talk about IL2. Well, at least not for me. Maybe the only reason why I really agree, is the fact that there are only a few threads about IL2 at all and the admins should more actively counter these repeated posts.
Well, the only difference with this site is that I believe (and I could be wrong in my assumptions here) that it was set up (in contrast to the ubi forums) to allow Oleg & Co. to directly communicate with the Il-2 community.

If what I assume is correct, then the raison d'etre for this forum appears to no longer exist. In which case it is just another Il-2 forum like Sim HQ, UBI ORR, UBI General Forums etc. etc. Nothing special in any way.

You obviously think that just another Il-2 forum is perfectly OK, which is fine. I'm just expressing doubts as to whether it's something that the Il-2 community really needs, when the same topics posted here are generally covered in at least as much detail elsewhere.

i.e. this place is nice enough, but doesn't seem to have a specific purpose....

Well I am going out on a limb here but as far as I know this site features updates (tiny indeed) that are only available here.
Oleg so far has given this site far more info than any other.
He has also released it here first.
It has then been transport elsewhere...
If I am wrong... Then what am I doing here?

But I am losing interested frankly.
Sought of reminds me of the KOTS site, lots of talk but when it gets down to deliver expect it to be abandoned for the brand new Ubisoft SOW page.

Sorry, but your assumption really seems wrong, because this place was not created to give Oleg a place to directly communicate with the crowd. He does that by various means on different boards, but even at this board, he rarely does it personally. How many replies do you see on this whole board by Oleg? 20? And really, how many posts about Q&A, infos or answers to release-date-things where posted by Oleg himself??? Wasn't it his staff posting that most of the time?

Again, this is an IL2-Forum, not one for BoB. It may be a solution to the UBI-Ban, but as you can see with the promised and not kept regular updates, this board is neither his personal playground nor is it a basis for regular information that you will find nowhere else on the internet.

Honestly, though, I think that this is the main problem for most people. They came here in anticipation for news about BoB and one after another realizes, that this is just another IL2-board, with the same topics and even the same members, than most of the other forums and IMHO that is the reason why so many people feel pissed here.

This boresighting on BoB is also the reason, why only a handful of people even noticed Oleg has responded to several posts over the last weeks, just none was labeled with or containing "secret info on BoB", so nobody cared, obviously including yourself.

Nobody is forced to post here, but nobody should think that Oleg is either and especially not, if he only gets the same copy'n'paste-questions about BoB as an answer, which he is not allowed to post statements to.

So after all, if anybody is responsible for Oleg remaining largely silent IMHO is to a larger part the sound of this community. You just don't bite the hand that's feeding you.

You're right - I was writing to fast with a son over my shoulder . It should naturally be:

0/2 = 0 and 2/0 = not allowed (infinity).

Feuerfalke - I've never bitten Oleg's hand or anyone else's. It's just not my style.

But yes, you're right, I was expecting a bit more here, but that's because moderators and regulars at ORR have regularly responded to peoples' RFI's with "Hey Moron! Don't you realise that Oleg and Ilya and Crazy Ivan don't live here anymore? You need to go over to the 1C forums!" so the expectation that this forum is more "alive" is not an assumption created from nothing. And of course it doesn't matter if these people reply personally or by proxy - what does matter is whether or not accurate information is being provided.

And no, I haven't seen Oleg's replies in some threads, and the reason I haven't is that many of the threads here are ones I've seen countless times before in other forums so the motivation to go through each topic again (as a non-newbie) is not particularly high. I think we're both talking at slight cross-purposes to an extent, because I'm not specifically looking exclusively for info on BoB straight from the Oleg's mouth, but I am looking for information about Maddox Games's flight simulation products from reliable sources. If, as you seem to be implying, this site is no better for that than anywhere else, then fair enough. It's just a bit of a disappointment, that's all.

I didn't mean you personally bit the hand of anybody and not literally. But it seems even if Oleg shares some information, the only effect is, that the time until the next demand arises is shortened by half.

It still is an assumption created from nothing - just that it wasn't yours.

I understand your point and I think we think quite alike on this. IMHO the only problem is, that people tend to hope and get disappointed. And in this special case, they hoped for new informations on a rediscovered forum and within a few weeks people rush in here and soon realize that nothing has changed.

From a more global point of view, that's no surprise, as UBI hasn't changed their minds and Oleg still seems to be bound to that.
But some individuals don't see it that way and take it as a personal insult or provocation against the community, that even after they went through the length to register to some "new" forum, the Godfather of Flightsim doesn't listen to them.
