For those who do not have a 'dedicated' gaming PC.. As in your may have 'other' uses and 'other' software installed.. You may want to give this util a try

http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

In that it will optimize your PC for those who don't know how to optimize thier PC.. It turns off alot of background stuff that 'may' be the cause of why you with your hardware is getting less FPS than someone else with the same hardware

I have all this on already Ace, but are you saying my computer is not a dedicated gaming PC? Did you look at the spec of my comp? That card alone cost me £500 last week, it's the latest card from Nvidia.

What spec? why isn't it your signature? where it would be a more effective place to list it

No it isn't and no you don't ... how many meg does your mobo System Reserve memory RAM to?

and usually, the first things turned off for an effective overclock are turbo_boost, C1E, speed stepping and core parking

Ace of Aces- I've tried gamebooster varients over time & had no real luck boosting speed BUT what has happened is that it has played tricks by putting my PC into sleep mode after about 5 minutes of non-use & then after doing this repeatedly over the course of a day ,stops PC completely with a blank screen,& requires me to go thru a series of reboots to get the PC up & operating again. To stop all this nonsense & must do a system restore. Now,of course it could just be a glitch in my PC setup , but I do wonder if othrs have experienced similar problems & overcome them when they set up this neat utility?

Perhaps you could post up your specs (incl Op. Sys), so we could take a look at see what may be causing your grief?

The 9800GT is probably getting a bit light these days...
but, what is your motherboard, processor, soundcard, how much memory is installed and how much RAM is on your 9800GT, etc?
