Default Why was TreeUK banned?

Sorry to bother you all.

I don't post very often. I've had the game since release and have suffered along with many others despite a fairly kick ass system that has been upgraded a few times along the way.

I was wondering why I saw TreeUK was banned? Can someone point me to a particular thread that got out of hand etc. Please... This is a genuine enquiry. I am trying to find what he said that finally did it.

I always thought of tree as the advocate for the common man who paid $80 for this game and showed faith despite the disapoinments. His honest, direct and forthright style of communication seemed to be the only way to outline the true problems to the dev's and communicate the ill-will that the botched release of this sim created.

Believe me.. I want to enjoy this sim like I did il-2 '46. It's just hard when less than 300 ppl in the entire world play it online with any regularity.

I hope Tree is unbanned and that freedom of speech (no matter how hard the truth is to swallow) is allowed to continue on the 1C forums.

Thanks sincerely for your time.

...I´m afraid you just gave an answer to your own question...

It´s also pathetic that on these forums you have to first forcefully underline your good will towards the game and developers (as you, like most of us, did), and then shyly give some (preferably very modest) critique about its shortcomings. Otherwise you are labeled as a useless whiner and attacked relentlessly by some of the forums self-proclaimed watchdogs.

I miss Tree, he was the sound of reason on these forums.

Constructive criticism is fine. But endless bitching about the same issues we know about, the devs know about and are working hard to fix achieves nothing and should not be tolerated. Simple really.

True that, but I think that the recent announcement of the sequel along with "tank-addon" and what not has somewhat undermined the credibility of the "devs know the burning problems & are working hard to fix them" -argument.

There seems to be even less and less reasons to avoid the thought of being cheated by the developer.

But all of this is off-topic and stated milloin times. It´s still true though...

Blacksix explained that posting the sequel material was his idea - an attempt to fill the void until more patch info became available. He recognises now that it was a mistake. Personally, I accept that his intentions were well meaning and can understand that he'd like to keep a low profile now until the patch is out.

I have no problems at all with the devs working on the sequel in parallel. It has been stated many times that it shares the same engine as CloD and anything they do to improve the engine will filter down to the product we already own. Good things will come, just need a little more patience.

Hey Raaaid,

Well said, I am starting to run out of popcorn though. I do miss Tree a bit, from what I saw he was pretty straight up and not abusive etc. maybe a little sarcastic, but then he was from UK, we love sarcasm here. I guess that must've changed at some point leading to his ban. Can't fault the mods here, must be an excrutiating job, for voluntary pay.

Free speech? nah, benevolent dictatorship is the only way for utopia I'm afraid. It's a real pity those 2 words are mutually exclusive in reality. In a forum, it has to be a form of dictatorship though, people should not be allowed to verbally abuse moderators, members or developers in the anonymous internet battleground. People are very prone to misbehaving when they know they are safe from any tangible retribution.

Regards, Sam.
