COD doesn't work like that. You don't have mission variety which you rotate afaik. You have a main mission and script which calls other sub missions and events - whatever is in the code.

Here's the thing:

If you can manage to script in the changing of airfields from blue control to red control and vice versa that will change EVERYTHING.

You could start the 'mission' with everything setup in a Battle of France configuration. Then, script changes that shift the front and eventually you get a Dunkirk evacuation type event. Again, shift and you're into fighting over the channel - all without loading the map again.

If you're getting really creative you might be able to script in a 'conquest' style map like Battlefield 3 does it. Might not be historical, but your actions matter.

It all depends on if there's a way for the ownership of airfields to change dynamically during the time the server is running, and if you can trigger that change via actions taken by the players.

If I had a server what's stopping me shutting it down and putting up a different mission every 12 hrs?

You two must have something to do with other servers.

So you're saying the map..the front.. could move on it's own without loading a new one?

Why do you need a different map? There is only one decent one. There was nothing more annoying on 1946 than climbing to altitude for 20 mins, getting into a fight only to have the map change just as the excitement started.

In this you have can take a patrol and the server, in the meantime, can load and run a new mission whilst you are flying. It do things like surround you with AI enemy on a trigger if you pass through a sector if it's set up like that. Point is that missions are starting and finishing all the time, only without the hassle of stopping and reloading.

So you would rather fly for weeks on end on the same map? A Battle Of Britain map no Battle Of France.

I'm hoping so, yes. Maybe those front markers that create the red/blue line on the map can be created and removed via scripts just like aircraft. If not, it doesn't matter. That front line doesn't really do too much. It might give you some interesting options via scripting when checking if someone bails over friendly or enemy territory and some other stuff too, but it's not necessary.

If the airfields can be transferred between red and blue and vice versa, you have a way to create a dynamically shifting front line based on capturing airfields and any other objectives you wish to make relevant.

Cool huh? I'd do it myself but I'm not sure how to use the scripting stuff yet.

Old 2001 IL-2 never did have front markers and when you played in the online wars like D.I.D. you had to make sure that you had the map downloaded that they would have up on the site with a drawn line dividing the fronts. I think I still have one. Just like a paper map in your cockpit lol. You couldn't shut your mini map path off either. That was the only thing I didn't like about 2001 IL-2
