Sounds like the Fyrd at the Battle of Hastings. Personally I like the fact that units act with some initiative, even if suicidal at times, just like the poor Fyrd charging down the hill toward the Normans. I am sure it is frustrating but adds some uncertainty to what was always a very uncertain and chaotic situation. TW did this to a small degree with impetuous Knights in Medieval TW and I am glad to see similar here.

It was NO charge, more like a slow "we don't like being on steep slope" walk.
If it was initiative, and 1 unit is being attacked by 2 enemy units, then a - Fast "to the highest hill we can find" RUN would make more sense? I'll try hold. .
