Default Slovakia

The one thing I've noticed with the Slovakia map is that there is no place available to place an engineered air strip. There is not one patch of level ground (that I can find) to place one. Thats not to say that there aren't any....but I can't find any. Even near the rivers the foliage is too heavy. Unless I want to put a strip up the middle of a river, do I have any other options? I love to build my own bases based on the surrounding scenery. I understand the care that has been taken for realism....but.....but.....I just realized the map won't be changed for me.

1. Has anyone found level ground without foliage to lay a strip?
2. Will there be other maps in the final release?
3. Is there ANY forecast on the official release date of 4.09?

The maps are absolutely beautiful

Default flat land

The only flat land made intentionally is around and bellow the rivers but it is not much and under big factories. The rest is quite natural. I can do some flat area in the final map, but the question is where

Hello,

I jsut gave 4.09b the first real try and found out that i got something I never had before.. VERY annoying micro stutters and a totally screwed sound. I only hear something properly when looking from the plane's 5 o'clock forward. Only sound stuttering from the cockpit view expet looking left.. wtf. It worked perfectly before.

e6850
8800GTX
4GB RAM
Vista32
no "modded" il2
Forceware 169.09

That'S what some testing revealed:

vanilla 409 DLLs:
stutters
weird sound errors (disappearing engine sound at certain view angles, menu musik and guns seem to work though)

Thor's 409 DLLs
better performance
weird sound errors

408 DLLs copied back in
good performance
perfect sound
slovakia doesn't load anymore

408 sound DLLs, remaining vanilla 409 DLLs
stutters
perfect sound

During all tests the conf.ini was untouched with all settings at 408 level

I'd have no problems using the old DLLs but why does the FMB freeze when trying to open a slovakia mission file/map?

EDIT:

ok, I jsut took 1 and 1 and combined what delivered the best results:

408 sound DLLs
409 Thor DLLs for the rest

- loads Slovakia
- stutter free
- sound as before

From the bits of sound i did get with 409 DLLs i thought I got a little ritcher sound, can someone confirm that?

I have some weird colors with my new HD3870 with the Beta 4.09m and standard 4.08m.

I hope there is time to fix this or so then other users with ATI Radeon HD2xxx and HD3xxx have also those artifacts and we all know that 4.09m is the last patch or is this the fault of the Graphics card suppliers. My Old ATI Radeon X1950XTX runs ok with no artifacts.

Driver used is Catalyst 7.12.

Excellent patch. I am very happy that Oleg added in the object list a full series of soldiers in different postures. I had exctly requested that a few months ago on the ubi forum, so I am delighted he did it. This will give a jolt of life and realism in our scenarios.
The slovakia map is gorgeous. Incredible work.
On my system all has worked perfectly well and I have no visible loss of performance or any graphic or sound disturbance.
However the extended distance feature with LandGeom=3 is not working. I am in perfect mode with water=2 or water=4.
When I set this parameter in the conf.ini file I see no difference and when I open it again it has automatically reverted to LandGeom=2. So my setting is not taken and the system modifes the file. This happens whatever the water setting.
I know it is a beta version but it seems that others have it working.

Here is my system:

Mainboard: ASUS Commando
Processor: Intel Extreme Quad 9700 2.66 GHZ
Memory: 4 GB Kingston FSB 1066 MHZ
Video Card : ASUS Nvidia GeForce 8800 ULTRA - Driver 169.25
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate

I play in 1920X1200 on a 24" screen.

Thank you for any help on this issue

I don't know if this is the correct spot for this question, but with the impending release of 4.09m, would it be possible to go back and fix a small item on the desert online map? Since you have made it possible in the new patch to make "landing Fields" (a broader landing plate) I think that the Desert online map is in desperate need of the same type of take-off and landing structure applied to these new "landing fields" in 4.09mb1. It would sure be nice. (And appreciated)

Many thanks,
MadJek

Default MTO bug

Just found a bug in the new MTO map.

1. The airstrip at Gazala (I think that where it is, west of Tobruk) has part of the runway texture missing / overlapping by the ground texture when you're on the ground.

2. On that same airstrip: When you take-off, the aircraft are positioned not on the runway, but next to it !?

Is it possible to change the "light sand" texture on the runways? It looks very low-res and sticks out from the rest. Isn't it possible to replace it with a more transparent texture like on the airfields in the south of the map??? Or perhaps none at all?

The MTO map is really great and the geography wisely chosen. You can make great campaigns here. I'm thinking of a german camapign starting off in april 1941...

well chuffed
FYI this game doesnt like and #Qx setting due to the older OPEN GL Code.

" it can also not only kill your fps but cause some game crashes. "

1600x1200 60fps all the time ... except the major towns but in 4.09mb I'm getting 10fps higher over the towns. 4.08 getting 28-38fps adv 4.09 33-48fps adv over major towns.

Love the new clean visual in 4.09. I can see to the ends of earth with out the crazy fog and blurry image over 1.5 grids. It's like flying in FS 2004 now.

That is clearly a symptom of a failing card. i had that one before. Is most likely overheating. Please check the temperature of your GPU core with Riva tuner.
You most likely got a dying card.
