I've always though that in IL2 was really too simple hitting the plane even from distance (the "green ray of death" can catch you even from 600m)... opposing to the real life.

Also we have a fixed view through the gunsight (stable aim) who make things easier.

So I tried to do some gunnery practice: I was surprised from how easy is to kill a chuting pilot even with a single shot of 30mm.

Maybe the target boxes around the IL2 object are really too big compared to the reality?

My dream for SoW is:
- No More sound from external planes (that is No sound radar of engines or firing cannons)
- Precise target boxes (Since the SoW's plane models are really detailed)
- Chance to not use ammo tracers (hystorically they weren't helpfull at all)
- Wind Turbolence behind enemies
- No fixed aim through the gunsight (6dof?)

You know, in real life bounces and sneak attacks were the best way to score a kill.

What do you think?
Huh?? Maybe you saw gun cam of a pilot who could not shoot or was just plain bad at getting his plane to do what he needed it to do!!

Or just maybe, you saw footage from a plane that had burned out barrels from firing a little too much or too long or both. This was common in WWII and I know for a fact that US aircraft had to have their barrels changed all the time. The accuracy went to hell if the barrels got too hot and the steel lost it's temper. Then the next thing that goes out is the rifling in the barrel.

So, in conclusion we can now easily ascertain the you can't tell jack doo-doo about how hard it was to hit planes in WWII from gun cam footage. This case is adjourned and dismissed I'm afraid. The guns in IL2 are just fine as they are. Stop comparing real life footage to a game especially when you don't know the conditions the footage was taken in.
