Default OT: What do you think of this?

Hi all,

Hope it's okay to discuss here.
Gaijin has just announced a new MMO flight simulation game, World of Planes.
There's a new website as well.

What do you think?

I hope it's ok to discuss too but inevitably as has been demonstrated in this community 'all hell will break loose'

but my 2 cents on this are:

it will be another wings of prey......kind of pretty to look at but nothing behind the eyes, generic flight models and engine sounds that have only 2 pitches high/low rpm and aimed more at the console style player.

The genuine World War II experience isn’t limited to the skies. World of Planes also exposes players to combat on land and at sea. The game’s co-op features include collaborative missions with allies as well as intense battles against enemy forces.
Oleg will be pissed.

Another key feature is the realism. In contrast to «Wings of Prey» where was 'Arcade' mode «World of Planes» will have no concessions for an inexperienced player. The developers promise the most realistic game that could impress even experienced virtual pilot. However, it is expected that the game will be suitable even for beginners, but how it will be achieved is a secret yet.
From their site. That's one hell of a goal, don't believe it till I see it I guess...

Hi bongodriver,

I won't argue with it if the moderators of this forum won't allow discussion of another company's games here. It's just that I saw DCS A10 Black Shark was discussed here without problems, and personally think that relevant OT discussions can help to keep a forum vibrant and alive.

It remains to be seen how much they will evolve from their first take on a PC flight simulation game. IL-2 was also not perfect when it came out first but saw steady improvements, which I'm sure everybody will agree are still ongoing and necessary even with their latest title.

Anyway, thanks for your opinion!

If it's gonna follow the same model as World of Tanks then it will be a success. Last time I logged at WoT there were about 28.000 players online, stark contrast to CloD's average of 10-20 players.

And if it does, it will be 3rd person only

timej31,

this is an OT thread, discussing news of a game of the same genre and the same time period. If you don't want to think of more than one simulator at a time, nobody forces you to read this thread or join the discussion.

I have said before that I hope it's okay to discuss this here, and if it's not and a moderator disallows it I won't argue about it. However there are other sims discussed OT on this forum without problem in a pleasant and informative manner. So, I was discussing.

I feel I have done or said nothing here that's insulting or derogatory to anyone and that would call for a reaction such as yours. That's just uncalled for.
