Vengeanze- my apologies, i should have been more specific. When you launch the game, select 'Multiplayer' and click on 'Client', that is directing you through a Steam server (on my game it launches a small window that drops down stating something like 'Click here to connect with Steam friends' soon after the game starts- very annoying).
In Il2 i usually go to Hyperlobby, select the server i wish to join and Hyperlobby launches the game for me.

I hope Rolltide is correct and the pre-game will be added later. Like many things in CoD the game itself is great but the final polish is very lacking.

I do not have this window. Just disable everything in Steam what you can (Ingame section and others). I do not even notice Steam running since I disabled all settings that I could.
