Every thread about this goes the exact same way. . .
1. "We should have the swastika in the game..." 2. "You can mod it in..." 3. "It's actually an ancient symbol that the Nazis used to..." 4. "There are laws in other countries that don't allow it to be used and..." Jesus! Give it up. It's never, NEVER going to be added officially! Move on and stop creating the same thread over and over again. |

Yeah, blah, blah, blah right.
Oh well. I wonder if it's illegal to paint Nazi kill markings on the side of your plane. Being the same symbol but used to celebrate a dead Nazi rather than worship a live one... |

BoB2, Wings of Prey, IL2, et al are also sold in other countries. So, that kind of shoots down that argument.
If someone in Germany, for example, wants to put a swastika on his ME-109, and it's against the law, he could be punished. If he prefers not to put it on, he has not broken any law, even if the option to put it on exists in the flight sim. He also could be punished for stealing a car, but he has nothing to worry about just because there are cars that could be stolen. The swastika should be an option for us all. binky9

![]() Quote:
a) were sold in Germany directly (ie, not through mail order from abroad) b) included the markings from the get go...as far as i can recall, swastikas were only displayed in the Russian version of IL2 and someone found a leftover toggle in a configuration file in the other versions. In any case, swastikas in the game = lost money for the developers and there's much to be fixed yet. I prefer they stick to the laws to be able to sell in more markets/countries and let us do things on our own with mods, skins and what not. Also, things have changed pretty recently with regards to laws banning swastikas in Russia. It is now illegal there as well and since the developer studio is based there, there's not really anything they can do. Long story short, this has been debated ad nauseum. I'd like it to be optional too, but it's just not feasible from a legal standpoint. People can get jailed for that and there are no flight simulator developer studios in prisons, it's that simple. ![]() |
