You should´ve added one option:

"I do not try to play anymore and wait till things get sorted out, meanwhile I get into the ME and skinning"
So I put it away, but use it anyhow and have some fun with other aspects of the software...

I enjoy it, despite it's flaws, because it beats the socks off FSX anyways, exept for ILS and instrument flights, but thats boring anyway after it's learned. I have one A2A plane, P47, but after learning to fly it, it's even more frustrating to not have the ability to shoot with it.

Took CLOD off my machine yesterday and put on Tom Clancy HAWX, which I got free with my joystick. Now I just pretend that I spent the $50 on that cheap thrill instead of CLOD and everything is okay.

If it is easy to implement, maybe the developers could consider putting in texture compression. Most do not have vid cards with 1.5 GB of VRAM. That is atypical for gaming. All my other games run smooth as glass at decent resolutions with just 256 mb VRAM. Yet this game, at 640x480 and all settings toned down to barest of bare, when I run the tiger moth track(which is just one plane over land), I see pauses even though the frame rates, min, max and average are all above 30 fps. Also, I check youtube vids now and again and guys with the best systems and plenty of VRAM with high settings...I see that frame rates are decent, but I also notice only two or three planes in these videos...and I still see the pauses. So, that makes me not want to upgrade at this point in time. I need a lot more positive evidence before buying a new pc for this game, when my current pc suits me fine in every other way except for CLOD. Texture compression might be an interim solution for guys like me who are hesitant to invest in hardware at this point and have no reason to play CLOD otherwise.

I'm afraid to say that 256mb v-ram is nowhere near enough in today's gaming world.
My trusty old Nvidia 6800 GT had 256 mb v-ram, and that was back in 2004 - seven years ago.
You may get away playing a few console ports with such low v-ram, but in all honesty 1gb v-ram is about standard today. 512mb v-ram is about as low as you want to go nowadays.

Agreed. The CLOD official vram specs are 512 minimum and 1gb recommended. But everything I've read says those aren't cutting it for the resolutions and eye-candy that guys want to play this game at. So if not, why isn't DX texture compression in the game so they can? It doesn't make any sense to me why they would exclude it, unless maybe it made the game really horrible to look at. If that is the case, they should have told us that we need 2gb cards. Those cards are high end, not the norm, but at least we are dealing in reality.

Anyway, the post above, I wasn't expecting to use my current 256 mb card for this game. I simply wanted to do fps benchmark, so I forced off all the card settings, stripped down the config.ini and lowered the resolution so that vram wouldn't cap out during the runs.

"Put away till fixed"

Played the entire British "SCRIPTED" Campaign. Wasn't very exciting. Haven t played the Luftwaffe yet. Got turned off after the very 1st mission is bugged.

And so what else is there to do? FMB? Not particularly interested in that at all, So that soughta really leaves the Quick Missions. Which at the end of the day get boring very fast.

I do love the game FOR WHAT it could be, but at its present stage there REALLY isn't anything to continue with is there?

I hate to bring it up. But the DCG that IL2 gave the game a longevity. Every mission was different and you played till you're death or the war ended.. AWESOME!! CoD ...VERY Boxed!

Disappointed

Regards

What kind of masochist votes like this?

"I'm playing it and not enjoying it because of the flaws "

I cry foul on this one, you must be enjoying something if you are playing it!

It's not a chore it's a game if you don't like it don't play it.
