COD doesn't stutter as bad as Elite used to on my Apple][+.

No hang on a minute! Elite didn't stutter. 2fps was what it ran at!

Cheers!

Of course you have to change disks at least every 30min of gameplay - and while they are loading the next level, you can take a leak, brew a cup of coffee, order pizza and write your X-mas cards.

Good old times.
3.5"? Bloody youngsters...

In my day they were 5.25"

I'm certainly not that old, but my first computer experience was indeed typing 3-4 pages of basic into a ZX81 - with no tape - with one of those dodgy 16Kb RAM packs that if you wiggled it, it crashed. In the end the "game" was two solid blocks. One moved horizontally. The player moved the other one vertically to intercept the other one. Oh my days.

I must've been, what, 5 years old? Maybe 6?

Compare COD to something like ARMA2 and COD runs so much better with full detail. It runs fine on my system yet if you turn up the details on ARMA I get 6fps. We should be thankfull.

We do have some awesome paperweights at work though - I believe they're 2MHz watercooled processors from back in the day. Must weigh a couple of kilos each.

the game is improving a lot, but this post is just nonsense.
Yeah but the key thing here is that he's on an older system with a budget video card and he has playable FPS. Doesn't look great but at that stage of the game it's just good that it's running at a level where it can be played.

Actually, all that matters is that Raaaid is having fun. Isn't that what CloD is supposed to be for?

I'm sure raaaid won't object if I point out that he often seems to be somewhere on the fringes of rationality - if not a little outside on occasion - but at least he understands why we are all here - to relax, and lose ourselves in an imaginary world where we can reenact WWII air battles without the risks (and moral dilemmas) involved. Altogether a saner attitude than has often been apparent on these forums lately...
