As I've finally cracked and ordered an iPad 2 to get a decent kindle & browser platform I thought of a cool feature to improve the CloD simming experience espcially on more complex crates:

Load some ww2 style cockpit bitmap into iPad with a bunch of buttons and levers and sliders. Then have the app send the outputs to the sim and you'd have a pretty flexible and handy controller in your hands.

Googled a bit and realized that there is one already for FSX. So I recon that's atleast some proof of concept.

I wonder how laboursome this kind of app would be and if anyone here has any iCoding experiences. If so, stew one up and I could easily pay 5$ for it instead of investing hundreds into custom controllers. Let me know when you've uploaded it to AppStore

Well exactly as you describe you need to get Touch IR+ here and using your bit maps end up

with this but

for CoD.
More info on the DCS one Here. Good threads over at Eagle can fill you in more....it should not be too hard for Cod I believe judging by Shake3000's thread re using the iPhone
