This seems to have corrected it:-

Deleted everything in the
Documents/1C Softclub/ il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/Cache folder except the shaders folder (but deleted everything in it.)

Then it took a bit of time for the buildings to re-apear.
(I am guessing that the PC has to recreate new files based upon the new settings that are available and as you fly over the relevant area's .)

Now the Buildings are back.

Please make the Mechanical/ Electric gauges a difficulty option. I Loved this (and the original alcohol compasses).
I can understand that some people don't.

But If its a difficulty option called something like 'Advanced Instrumentation' . everybody wins !
I deleted everything in that folder but still I get missing buildings in Free flight mission but strangely enough buildings are there in London mission but look like lego and they keep pooping up right in front of me. Change of settings in game doesn't make any difference

oh! the cursor (little black lines waiting for text input), seem to have gone bye-bye

great cistern (fuel depot) explosions, though smoke and flame drop the FPS right down to the 10's... yes, the plane catches fire passing through it and diving blows the fire on the wings, etc, out

Wow! Wow! Wow!

This patch is the shit!

I previously said that this game must be playable on medium settings on a midrange rig that is 2-3 years old. That day is now! I set all stuff to the default "medium" setting and then increased model detail to high. Now EVERYTHING can be done with the fps I feel that a game like this "deserve" on an old rig like mine... I did the bomber intercept mission over London in the Spit hunting those pesky He 111. I shot down two with the fps staying between 20 and 30 over London and rising to 40-50 when chasing them over the Thames Estuary. TOTALLY playable. Felt like IL2 most of the time!

I recorded this video to show the preformance. And then Fraps steals a lot of fps! Could not dream of this two weeks ago It really must hurt that it was not this build that got released - A LOT! I am now confident that this game will be a hit, not that I have doubted. Gave it a 9.0 on Gamespot on the presumption that it would get fixed and was bashed for beeing a fan boy... Damn it's good to be right!

Video doing the standard "below the Tower Bridge thingy"

Core 2 Duo E8400@3.3
GTX275 GPU
6GB DDR2
Windows 7 x64

Damn, seems I am the only one who cannot apply the patch. Can you tell me what I do wrong?

I put the IL2COD_14072.rar-file into the il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover folder under Steam and then I right-click on the file and say "extract files".

Then I get 22 error messages saying "cannot delete output file" (with a specification of the file).

And the sim isn't updated....

Not sure if it's a bug from this patch as I didn't try it before - but I went online, took a 110 and while taxiing opened canopy - stopped, closed it, took off - then later noticed when in flight that although the side windows had come back up , the sunroof was still open....

Well that patch works very well!

The only errors so far has been on some occasions (~25% of the time) that the grass or ALL building or both will be missing from the world space, so you either have to quit the game and restart it or exit the mission/.trk/etc then enter the video options and press ok (without changing anything) then wait in the main menu until the music starts before reloading the mission/.trk/etc.

edit to above: also exiting to the main menu then reloading the mission/.trk/etc has the same effect most of the time ware as also going to the video options and press ok (without changing anything) works all of the time before reloading the mission/.trk/etc.

&

Wile the method of displaying buildings now much further away & switching LOD’s of buildings is a vast improvement on the old method, in towns of ~300+ buildings at low level I see quite a lot of light brown etc buildings which are nothing more than 12 triangle rectangular boxes (lowest detail LOD) even though other buildings much further away are showing a higher detail LOD. Image attached below though not the best example of it!

shot_20110415_174753.jpg

With respect to “shutters” caused by buildings and how LOD’s etc were handled there is ~85% reduction “shuttering”, that is to say the duration of each “shutter” is significantly reduced and the amount of individual “shutters” is significantly reduced when below 100m AGL over a large town

Freycinet, I used 7-Zip, extracted the two folders then dropped them into the correct locations (where the ones that need to be changed are stored). Windows overwrites the existing files that need to be replaced and leaves any others untouched.

Try to extract it somewhere else, then copy the files over with explorer. You should be asked whether you want to replace the files. Are you running an admin account?
