Default Skinning help!

I would like to make some kick-ass skins, and I almost succeeded. almost...

I opened one of the default jpegs in psd, and started building up layers as usual. Then I flattened the image, saved it as a jpeg - not full quality but something like 1-011 so that it doesn't exceed 5-600 kb - but in game the quality of the texture wasn't very good. I could see brighter green patches n the green, etc....

What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

nothing, thats the way the game handles the skin files. Even in max quality setting when transforing from psd to jpg you will have this.
i make alwasy two skins, one around 150kb, for future online use and one max qualitiy for my offline use.

Hi Reflected, I didnt like the green on green look so I sampled the colours and flood filled mine back with a tolerence of 20, it cleans them up nice for other layers, skin was saved as maximum quality jpg at comes in at 850kb.

Could you advise how it is possible at the moment to use skins online. I copied skins from Steam to Document directory and can change them in Plane settings when online but the selection is not saved.

Do you know in what config file the skin selection should be saved?

I have seen an aircraft with changed skin at the same server I was flying but could not change mine. Sorry but the search function shows that this is the most close thread to ask )

As far as I am aware you cannot change your own skins online, its possible that the mission maker set differant skins for himself?

I can only hope this changes soon
