When we see a dedicated website I think we can say that SOW is close, and Oleg has already said that it is being worked on.

Oleg's not going to release it until he's happy that it's all OK - AFAIK this was one of the major reasons why he had fall outs with UBI, who wanted to dump the market with unfinished games (as most of us have experienced )

I'm happy to wait for perfection

I agree solidly with the first post. Oleg has gathered enough feedback over the past five years that there is little more which we can suggest (although I'm sure there is some brilliance left to be mined).

Anyhow, after ten years I'm quite willing to let Oleg do his work. For the first six years or so I hung on every update, but I've reached the mystical point of Mystic Puma about a year ago.

I am contented.

Yes, we just have to wait, which is sometimes the hardest thing to do

I wait best for things I don't know are coming however we've known this is coming for so long that we've all become very impatient.

That's just being human. Unfortunately, being on the internets is not like being human and so people come here to vent emotive thoughts in ways they would never employ in real life.

I've waited what - 7 years? was this announced in 2003 or 2005? I can't remember. As frustrated as anyone else, I continue to wait and look forward to a new Oleg Maddox product.

I'd rather we already had it, but I'd like to think I've some appreciation of how complex the development is and the difficulties that have been experienced.

Now it's just my opinion, but I thought IL-2 was quite good. Perhaps the majority of you didn't like it. But given what we got with IL-2, I'm totally stoked about a new game from Mr Maddox and am sure it'll be great. Maybe IL-2 wasn't good enough for many of you, but I was very impressed indeed.

I hope he realises (and I'm sure he does, actually) that the most critical opinions tend to come from those most oblivious to the constraints of the medium worked upon and the time frame existing within which to produce said work.

But then remember: it's easy to pick faults. Nothing's perfect, so there's always scope to complain. It's a weak state of being, mind: to look for flaws when one could be appreciating the bigger (and much more beautiful) big picture.

Look for the beauty in life. Appreciate the positive. Don't be arseholes.

Or as they say round my parts: Wise up to yourselves!

Oleg did make promises but there was a gap when 1C ventured ( a distraction from the promise) into the ..whats-it-ps2/wii/some-other-hand-held-rubbish to make a quick buck extension from IL2.

I think he burnt his hands here, as flight sims are not FPSs and you need a good rig to really enjoy the sim. So maybe he likes us again

Can you post a link, article or quote, please, where Oleg stated, that he promises BoB will be released at any given date?

Oleg has never actually promised but he has said in interviews that SOW would be released for the 2010 anniversary of BOB, he then went onto say that maybe it would go gold before but thousands would be playing by October. But he didn't promise it. I think in future Oleg should just say its done when its done, it would be better for him and 1C, because people are bound to ask questions, i remember when it was stated on these very forums that we would have a dedicated SOW website by the end of December 2008, or when Oleg said we would get system specs in may 2008, if you make these commets then you are bound to be measured by them, what i do think is unaacceptable is to not give an explanition as to why these dates were missed it wouldn't take much would it, just a quick sorry guys we are not there yet type of comment. Im 100% certain that Oleg will not make is intended September release date but i feel sure we will get the same as normal i.e no comment. And when anyone dares to ask the question of what as happened then they get flamed on here by the fanbois, and so it all starts again. But it is all getting rather boring now.

Yes, Tree. You are absolutely right. It would be much better if Oleg didn't say anything at all, post no screenshots and make no official statements.

After all, nobody could complain about always the same looking screenshots, nobody could take hints as promises or confirmation of personal expectations, nobody could wrongly quote allegedly statements and nobody would have a reason to be upset. Right?
