I wouldn't shoot my teammate down. Kill "stealing" happened. He's worth more alive than one dead enemy. In reality, pilots often made contact in just 1/10 flights, and even the top aces shot down aircraft only on occasion.

As for performance, it helps to know that 100% power and 100% prop pitch does not translate to highest speed. In a dive, you will go much faster by reducing RPMs and closing cowl flaps if open. Don't forget to set the supercharger and mixture for the proper altitude as well.

I don't understand the performance thing you mentioned, unless you're talking about what I said about the friendly planes going faster at key times. I already maximize my speed by doing what you said. If I hadn't got into my higher supercharger stage, for example, I would not have gotten that I-16 up that high. It just seems the AI cheat by getting some extra acceleration when they want it. Aside from the speed boost we all know about due to them not overheating. The get a little something extra that you ain't got.

BTW, I don't shoot my own teammates like that very often, just in truly exasperating cases!!

I fell you, I'm just paraphrasing the pdf guide when I say the life of your teammate is worth more than the life of your enemy.

Were the AI above you and diving down? Maybe you were climbing while they were level? The AI use the same FM as you, so the AI only cheats in that it has perfect control of the aircraft at all times: Best trim configuration, no sporadic and minuscule control inputs or corrections, no slipping, best engine configuration for the situation, etc. Programming typical human errors is hard, and not possible for the computers Il-2 was designed to play on. However, there is a good possibility that a lot of the faults will be corrected soon by DT's work.

Even online (and in real situations) people will gladly steal kills, unwittingly or intentionally. To resolve some issues with AI, it's a good idea to try the online coops. It's nice to have human teammates, and in some situations, especially in closed-pit, it's not always readily apparent if you're fighting against a human or AI pilot.
