I think Wings of Prey shows that they always intended the Cockpit view to be locked on Sim mode in BoP. It would extend the length of dogfights and make them so much better if you could use the cockpits blindspot to evade attacks.

+1 Cockpits are meant to be on Sim, since it's supposed to be SIMULATOR (not an Arcade or Realistic) game. Simulator is supposed to give you the most detailed and authentic capabilities, and views that the pilots of this or that plane would have had.
