oh amn no offense at all.. did not mean to write it up like that at all. I was just sayin it totally not boring that there is more to it than just firing a rocket.

although I do recall a game I used to play called MicroProse:F117 that really was just kinda firing a missile from miles away. But damn I was hooked on that game for the longest time.

I enjoy the close in fight too. Maybe thats why I have always liked the Korea War era jets. Still cool fast jets yet they had to mix it up...

MiG Alley is the main reason that I'm looking forward to SoW: Korea more than anything. I was going to reinstall MA for playing around in (could never get it stable enough for a full campaign), but if the pics above are flyable, might take another look at mods.

I remember Mig Alley . . . the AI was better than IL-2's and missions were pretty good + campaigns.

I do remember the MiGs cannon really tore stuff up, one puff ball and that was it . . . the Saber you had to hose a MiG down.

Good game. But yes very finicky. It worked on only one computer (and they was build to exceed max specs) I built but not on any others.

I can agree, I do like modern aircraft, but for some reason, WW 2 and Korea really draw me in. Like "There is no kill like a guns kill . . . " really fits my style.

Maybe its just the old nostalgic knights of the air where you had to get close and saw what damage you did and other other guy did. Where you are fighting for your own, its difficult to get a kill, and you can see your opponent.

Not like Modern air combat you can just go BVR and shoot your missile. . . or space warfare where you can be off the charts, push a button, and something goes boom far away and suddenly you got killionaire.

There has been quite abit of talk about a Korean war theatre. Like yourself I always enjoy the contact of WW2 air combat. The Korean war would be similar to playing IL2 on 2X, which is very attractive to me as well.

I've always got a kick out of doing portions of missions in 2X, just for the challenge. Naturally, the sim isn't the same at 2X, but you can get a taste for faster combat.

I enjoyed MigAlley as well. I thought for a while the team at BOB II WOV would take it on as a project, but it never was popular enough to push it.

Also, as I recall I even have the source code for MA. Rowan's released both Mig Alley and BOB.

That's not the experiance I have of flying jets in IL2.
Sure, the planes are faster, but the combat is much, much slower paced.
