Default PC vs. console

I don't know about you, but I sure would have liked to have known that this game was in this state upon release.

I paid full price for it, based upon the positive reviews -- which didn't delve into the issues we're facing. "Emperor's New Clothes" syndrome, anyone?

If I had known it would take 2 months or 3 months or 6 months or whatever, I would have held off this purchase and got it on the bargain rack, which is straight where this one is going.

PC gaming is a little more forgiving with the release / patch timeframe because fixes can be distributed more rapidly. As a primary console gamer, I have no patience in this respect. The game should be serviceable upon release; that is the standard of care, IMHO.

I agree. As awesome is the ability to patch a game after release is, lately it seems like its being used as a crutch to rush a game out and then fix it later.
I'm just trying to let people know that a game can survive coming out broken and then getting fixed as much as 6 months later.

This is a common occurrence with most publishers.

you know whats weird, I've never gotten a red-out, but I've gotten a couple of full black outs and I get near black outs all the time. I know other people have posted about it too, seems like black outs are in the game as is. Ever notice how your screen edges get fuzzy and dark when you pull high-gs? Thats the black-out.

Yeah Ive wondered that myself. I thought we already have blackouts and redouts. Are they just making it more debilitating when it happens?

While in some cases this is the case, I know of many cases where games have come out broken and never been fixed. The most famous case would be that of Hellgate;London whose developers folded one year after release of a seriously broken game. The title was actrociously coded, and never fixed.

However in saying that, the problems with BoP are trivial by comparison. The actual "bugs" are few its mostly adding features in the patch. For those who complain about reveresed rc controls, please take note that the definitions in this game are the same as many many other flying games on console/pc so the fault is not with the title it is with yourselves.

And as far as I am aware the patch is actually done and awaiting final qa and certification from the respective companies. Until such time as I am told officially otherwise, I wll continue to assume that a release is due at some point in the future.

That's totally right

except how can you compare IL-2 to a game like Ace Combat? Ace Combat is an arcade game and nothing but.

They do both have the lack of black and red-outs or any other g effects. But that's a lot more blatant in Ace Combat where you can somehow pull about 20 g's and not watch your intestines rip through the fuselage and fall to a squishy death on the ground below. It's forgivable with prop fighters but not jets.

I'll wait as long as it takes for there to be a good online, cause what choice have I got? There aren't any other sims on console, unless Heroes over Europe is for real, which I doubt. I know there's another ww2 one from Ubisoft, creator of arcade-trash Hawx and Blazing Angels, and I don't have to bother to check whether an Ubisoft title is any good. And Targetware beta on pc which is a really detailed sim that almost nobody ever plays, unfortunately
