Not sure if this may be part of the problem, but it also depends on your distance away from the target you are shooting at. Bullets do more damage per hit the closer you are to the target. Far distances may hit, but not do near as much damage per bullet.

Do you have any proof of this? It makes sense, but I have shot people to flames with relative short burst from 1.0km (although mostly lucky hits). It might just seem that way since it's harder to hit someone further away, so you'd think the bullets do less damage.

I dont think this can be proven, except by a dev telling us if damage decreases over distance.
For me it is even still unclear for the IL-2 PC version.. and no one seems to know for sure.

From experience I would say that it does matter. The change of killing someone with a short burst over a short distance, is way bigger than over a long distance. And with this I mean, hitting the whole burst in both cases.

But still it depends on where you hit them.. if it was the cannon or MG that hit.. I dont think we as players, can ever prove with 100% certainty, if it is true or not. not without a dev

I agree. I was just wondering . Maybe something to post on the dev's forum?
