Bug in King's Bounty Dark Side

If this topic already exists than I'm osrry but I couldn't find it.

Maedrilaid's blood

When unearthing the chest with Maedrilaid's blood in it you will be asked if you want to fight the keepers. If you chose No (press X) then no fight, no item, the chest is unearthed but cannot be opened any more. I tried save + reload, teleport to the shelter and back, but to no avail. So only possible workaround is loading a previous save but I don't have one so for me it is end of the game.

Could someone please fix it?
