Er... the German's were obsessed with catching it. Hence, a number of attempts at higher altitude/speed/rear-gunner equipped He-219s, the purpose design Ta-154 "mosquito catcher", derivatives of the Do-335 and Me-262 as well as all of the late war night fighter design competitions. In fact, the German's
never built another night fighter in quantity because of it - they kept returning to the drawing boards seeking paper designs with greater and greater performance!
