Training somewhat "didactically challenged"
Hi all,
After reading that CoD is gradually 'getting there' with the last patches, yesterday I re-installed it again after a long break and gave it another shot. Lo and behold! - performance was on a level that I could work with on my rig, TrackIR felt good now instead of the pains I had when trying to get it to behave properly the first time around, things overall just felt a lot better. So thanks for that part, I will spend some time with this sim now!
Which brings me to my question: I just tried the Tiger Moth (lovely plane) and began with the training missions. The first ones are a bit simplicistic, but that's was fine - better than no training, I think. But then, after three small flights where the instructor does everything for you except the primary flight controls, I try the "first solo" mission - and get dumped in a completely different plane (Spitfire instead of the Moth), with the engine off and no help at all. So I'm going from a ~120hp trainer with no complex systems where everything is taken care of for me to a ~1400hp complex airplane with no guidance at all. I tried to also select the Moth for the solo mission, but no luck. Isn't that a bit steep, as training curves go? (my initial thoughts began with "wtf...").
Anyhow - some pointers on how to manage that Spitfire? I can make the FSX A2A Spitfire work just fine, but there is a substantial Pilots Operating Handbook coming with that one, and that's required too! The CoD Spit I'm sitting in in the solo training mission apparently is a different model (different starter mechanism), plus the controls required for starting are not "clickable"...
