Axis Spitfires???

Just thought I would have a quick pop into Multiplayer and decided to have a go at the Scimitar map as ATAG is great but, sadly, all I ever seem to do is fly around for aeons never to see another plane. lol (Yeah.. I know...Navigation etc I'm working on it.)

Anyway... all the servers I went on that had the Scimitar map were trying to force me into a Spitfire even though I selected Axis. You wouldn't get me in one of those rustbuckets if you paid me! 109 till I die.

So.... what is with that? (On the player list I see others are flying 109s)

On another note: When flying ATAG I hear the radio inform me that there are Hurris etc at such'n'such a bearing.... I've noticed that I can fly at the given altitude, heading in the given direction and yet, still, I never see a single plane. Is the radio operator talking to me specifically and giving me bearings from my own position or is this a general call out and the bearings are taken from the airport from which I took off?
